Well my experiences are more on domestic AA than domestic QF where I am usually up the back.Only in Row4 if mrsdrron is beside me.If in the premium cabin I am in the aisle seat.I agree being kicked,punched,trod on etc are the real bugbears-some seem to do it deliberately.However I must say this happens on the minority of flights and whilst I agree with the OP I dont find it a major problem.
My major beef when sitting in the premium cabin are the bin stealers(and mostly these are not row4s).Much more of a problem on AA but increasingly seen on QF as people stick their carryons in the bins of the first few rows and head down the back.However if the staff do their job this would soon stop.On one AA flight the FA noted this happening,followed the perps to their seat,came back,removed their carryons and had them checked.When boarding was complete she announced-I am just going down the back to give row 17 their baggage claims-to applause.
As an aside,why do people need to go to the loo as soon as the seat belt signs are off?I cant remember the time I last used a plane loo on an under 4 hour flight.
Another-if you are in row 23 why do you have to have a close look at the first few row numbers?

I should have updated my profile, I am a WP, in response to those who thought I was suffering from some sort of status envy, and as for private lavs being a published benefit, the publication is a verbal one at the beginning of each flight.

I agree that there are more important issues affecting the world today, but I can't abide bad manners, particularly from DYKWIA types. Really though of far more importance is the lack of flowers in the vases. FJ manages a nice little spray of orchids. So inspired was I by an FJ flight that I started removing flowers from the lounge putting them in the aft lav.

I just want some glamour back in flying, babes.

Having flown between MEL and SYD over 300 times through the years, I have leaned that when in economy a strategic pit stop (even if just a 'splash and go') can avoid urgent issues later when the trolleys are out blocking the aisle(s).¹

Row 23 is front row economy on QF 763/330 aircraft - can confuse some with different aircraft.

¹ Especially if you consumed that last drink in the QP all too quickly as your flight began boarding before you expected.

I've never seen this happen in the J cabin but if I did I would draw it to the FA's attention.

I kind of agree with OP. J toilets for J pax, unless aisles are blocked or emergencies.

I have seen this happen couple of times in TG where J pax cross the curtains to use F toilets.

Out of interest I haven't seen private loos advertised or described in the ticket conditions for J seats - it would be great if you could point out the benefit you have paid for and missed given that a PA announcement is not part of your conditions of carriage.

Was about to say the same thing. I have never seen it written anywhere that paying Business class gives you private access to the front toilet. Nor that paying economy gives you only access to the rear ones. Better seats, yes. Priority boarding, yes. Meals, yes.

I can answer this - too much hydration in the lounge.

That part was a joke, but seriously, too much hydration full stop - I shrivel up like a prune both inside and outside when flying, so am not shy about the hydration. Unfortunately, that also means lots of trips to the loo. Can't say I feel too bad about that, as I never use loos that are not assigned to the particular cabin I'm flying in and don't take the paper in with me to read.

+1 to this.
And it allows you to exit the plan and keep going to your destination without needing to use the airport lav.
I usually have a car/driver waiting for me so I want to get off the plan and into the car and go, go, go.

Plus I find as I get older, 'the plumbing' seems to change and therefore best to ensure it is empty.

Don't do a lot of domestic travel at the moment but on the international aircraft there is a sign that says toilets aft for whY and whY+ pax. To be honest there are a lot more toilets on a 747 then a 737

Whilst I attempt to avoid flying on 737's, I have been told a few times by the CSM that i'm welcome to use the J lav's when they have come and welcomed me on board (must have been a slow day; WP welcome-on-boards seldom happen at the best of times).

If they offer them to me, who am I to say no (although any 737 flight i'm on is as short as possible so 99% of the time I have no need for on-board facilities)?

Actually, the curtains were near 100% closed until a few years ago when QF decided they had to be open all the time ("security" was one reason I was told - I presume something to do with only 1 FA being up the front near the coughpit door).

After some outcry (? ~ 2 years ago) the curtain is now "at the discretion of the CSM" (again as it was explained to me).

If your not paying/flying J, piss off back to Y.

When I fly Y I use the Y toilets. When I fly J, I use the J toilets. Simple.

NB - I don't use the Y toilets, when the J ones are busy, if i'm flying J, ever.
