PER-SIN to return from June.

Just to consider how QF is pricing their "re-newed" service I priced the time period which would be my next possible travel. In economy exPER 14 Sep return 25 Sep. It is at least $150 less expensive to price as two one way tickets. This may be as a result of the return on 25 Sep being during school holidays. MH return to KUL was roughly similar in price - though in N fare classes not earning on OW partners. CX to HKG were roughly $50 more in V class - full earning to CX, (used to be) 50% to QF

Ignoring the two red-eye flights, Jetstar with plus packages were about $200 cheaper still.

So, my conclusion is? Buying QF tickets exSIN is still very much worthwhile.

Happy wandering

Fred

Hard to see how QF is going to compete with SQ and even Scoot on this route with a narrow body - what were they thinking!

QF have to be price competitive. Otherwise this route won't last.

I'm interested, but not enough to book. *A gold and QF gold means the pre-boarding experience will be quite similar for me too.

Single aisle means it beats JQ and Scoot economy but not SQ.

Business? The timings on the scoot flights are pretty poor, but if I save $1k, I can pay for a hotel...

I think even economy pax would see the difference between a 737 and an A330. The 3-3 layout is much less convenient than 2-4-2.
Not to mention being effectively unable to use the aisle and access the toilets whenever service is underway in a single-aisled aircraft.
And of course their first impression would be the delays in boarding with a single aisle.
Business pax might also notice the impact of one entrance requiring everyone to board through their cabin, but then I have no confidence PER would provide two aerobridges for an A330 anyway.

Re boarding delays, 130 less passengers should help. And everyone boarded through the J cabin on the A330 in Perth previously anyway.

The JQ A320 has an extra inch of seat width, and Scoot is now using the dreamliner on this route. I guess it depends on how much you value lounges, priorities, and free meals onboard.

By priorities you mean priority baggage right ;)

Priority baggage works in Perth (Int) and SIN, pretty much every time.

But I have the small recline and uncomfortable JQ seats.

That said, I doubt you'd catch me in Y anyway, it was more of a thought experiment. I'll take MH via Kul or even Scootbiz for slight increases comfort

Rather apt that it is VH-XZP in its retro Livery :D

Also interesting and good to note, that in today's press release it mentions 9 airlines have codeshared on the flight QF PER-SIN flights, including but not limited too: BA, AY, 9W, EK, UL

Hopefully that helps keep loads high. How well does it time with BA/AY/UL departures?

PER-bound, only 1 of the 2 BA flights can meet it (BA11). BA15 misses the MCT. AY has a reasonably good transit time, while UL uses the morning time slot so it's not really designed for onward travel to AU destinations. EDIT: UL also has flights in the afternoon, which connects quite well to the QF service.
On the way back, pax are stuck in SIN for 5-6 hours.

UL, at least some days, has a 14:05 arrival so 3.5 hrs to PER flight. Perfect for those wanting to enjoy the lounge before their flight :)

That is also the quietest time of the day to visit the SIN lounge. And I do apologies, I forgot about UL309, which departs 7:50 or 8:40 depending on the day of the week. UL uses T3, but the QF lounge is not too far away from the skytrain. In effect, it's perfect for those flying out.

Noticed UL often goes to/from the high B gates, eg this afternoon from B9. QF lounge is closer to these gates than the lounge that UL uses. In fact B8-B10 are closer to the QF lounge than half of the C gates and all of the D gates in T1!

Bear in mind some will use it with stopover even if they don't connect directly eg. BA15, UL morning flight (arrive one morning, leave following PM).
