Flying MEL - AKL - SYD - SIN - LHR - SIN - MEL all in the next 8 days...... (J, J, F, F, F, F) My PA is on separate pnr so I will be interested in his views.

I will let you know.

Will be interesting to hear from any P1's over the next couple of days of their experiences, to see if they notice anything different such as a friendlier welcome, able to easily make changes, op ups, etc.

Also the race is on for the first card to surface.

Also interesting if there will be any negative experiences. For instance I could see a lounge dragon saying 'Sorry we only accept Platinums, Platinum One is not on the list I can't let you in"

Most likely in BA T5

I received excellent service last week and lots of attention. Don't know if it was the new level or just a great crew (maybe both).

J to F upgrade LAX to Syd on Thursday:D - not sure whether due to new status. Seems to happen fairly often on this route anyway

BP issued in AKL just now (7 Nov) - still shows Plat. Asked checkin and lounge - nobody knew anything...

Hardly unusual. As I've said elsewhere I presented my DJ plat card to one staffer only 2 weeks ago who told me she hadn't seen it before. (Still can't work out if she didn't know or hadn't met a plat before). Big legacy companies make for slow movers. If u had your card I'm sure the looks from many airline staffers would be priceless (oh u must be cl, or how did u fake a card this well, or my cheat sheet doesn't recognise this card - deny, or ooh that looks special, Concorde room for you)

Qfinsider has commented that it is unlikely for the BP to change until mid Dec, but that manifests should show the status (but cabin crew again may not know what it is)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

bossreggie - if you don't mind me asking, what do you do that involves this sort of flying (and where do I sign up)? PM if you are happy to answer but not on the forum boards.

does P1 status show up to staff at check-in and does it show on the pax manifest to crew? or is it simply plat/emerald?

mate love the red texta stuff - but you might want to take off one of the images - it's got all your details on there!

lol - good stuff - but I will will bring my red texta and yellow highlighter too and hole punch my P1 card and wear round my neck just to make sure everyone knows my status :D

Anyways, I hope you had a great flight!

Card BP on Friday (Perth to BNE) still showed Platinum, however the little receipt BP printed at the gate last night showed P1.

Mixed experiences however. I tried for upgrades, both prior and ODU and was denied (plenty staff in J cabin though). No plat shadow on Friday although the plane wasn't full (big sod with jaggy elbows next to me too!). No additional recognition on board during the flight.
On the plus side the cabin crew did welcome and say goodbye by name.

Travelled today, didn't detect anything different to the normal up and back to Sydney routine. Card arrived today too, looks the same with small red letters, I'm feeling slightly underwhelmed!

Did the card come in a nice fancy Marc Newson box?

I just got my Skywards Gold card today - nice surprise. It came with a silver letter opener in the shap of a propeller - you can also spin it when resting on the desk. Very nice touch.

Came in a metal box, aluminium I think. It's in the recycling now. I think the red letters are hard to read and to all extent and purpose it is essentially the same as normal P.

I'm heading off to LHR in a day or so, the test will be to see if there is anything perceptively different on long haul flights. At least my whelm can only go up and hopefully over! I remain optimistically underwhelmed for now.

Well I must say I am VERY disappointed I didn't make P1 - if it had been a month either way I would have made it, and as it stood, I had over 3000 QF metal SC's in the nominated period (3350 to be exact) , but fell short of the 3600 due to an extended family holiday...which I would make all levels in a week and a half!

As one who has spent a lot of time on QF metal, NOT getting the status bump does give me pause to just maintain WP this year and look to other programmes rather than strive for P1 (certainly now I'll earn my comped Plat Virgin card - until now I was thinking I'd use it this year and let it roll out, but now...)

Perhaps sounds petulant, but so much time on QF planes in the last 12 months I do actually feel hard done by! Anyone else in my situation?

I was in a similar position. Had to delay a flight to HKG by 5 days which would have taken me into Plat. Unfortunately SC expired 2 days before rescheduled flight. Asked nicely but no cigar.
Now, with my wife was left stranded interstate with the recent grounding. While the compensation for flights and accommodation and free return flight will be taken up, I am still a bit dirty about not getting the Platinum upgrade. Rules might be rules but for me Platinum rates higher than a free flight (although my wife would disagree). Having been Plat. in the past I know what I am missing:confused:

Never flown Virgin before, always JQ, QF or a 1 world partner, so QF rigid rules and Mr Joyce's actions open the door to the competition just that little bit more.;)
