The extra 25% status bonus points? Extra luggage allowance. Domestic J lounges?

True. Haven't needed the extra luggage but must say the 25% extra points and domestic J lounges have been nice.

Also, express Inwards/Outbound Immigration Passes (irrespective of class of travel), dedicated premium call centre, etc.. are also added features..

Better chances at Op-Up... (but yet to recieve on QF metal, been Op-Up on AA, BA multiple times.. never on QF Metal)... But someday will happen..:!:

NEVER had an Op-Up. Can't even get an exit row seat with CX unless ALL of my party are OWE, so no OneWorld benefits for me.

that is a little greedy to be fair - exit rows cost $$$ why dont you take it and seat the rest of the party in the row behind? CX/KA will tag your bags priority and look after you well.

... why dont you take it and seat the rest of the party in the row behind?

Good idea ! Obviously have to do it by phone though, as exit rows aren't even accessible to me on the seat map. Maybe I'll spend $100 and grab an exit row for my partner, and we'll seat all the teens behind us.

I bit over a year ago I finally made it too. However at the end of this month I'll be busted back to lowly SG. It was great while it lasted but a pity I didn't do more QF flying. Still I had three visits to the Flounge in SYD.

BUT with the double SC offer I may just have another go at qualifying for next year thanks to the knowledge I've gained on this site re JASAs (which helped me no end last time!)

I did this and then received a call back to inform me that there is a life raft that intrudes somewhat on the A seat and they wouldn't charge for that seat, so two of us are now in the exit row at no cost :).

AA allows Emeralds to select Exit Row seats. Also, free snack and drinks if you show you BP to the FA and identify yourself as an "Executive Platinum".

Again, each individual airline ha their own policy. As such, it's not a Oneworld elite benefit as such.

Not to mention that their free meal in Y benefit is only for their own OWEs (AA EXP). Just so happens that sometimes the system can't/doesn't show the difference between AA and non-AA OWEs and puts them all together. So if you are lucky to be identified as an EXP, great - but don't expect it to happen all the time.

I've been WP for over a year now. Not really sure what all the fuss is about. Apart from a few F lounge visits and the ability to choose exit row seats on 2 trips I haven't noticed any great perks beyond those I had with Gold.
And if most of your flying is domestic you will not notice too much difference between Platinum and Gold apart from the business lounge in SYD/MEL/BNE/CBR.

Fixed that statement for you....
I have been easily able to select exit seats on AA flights - must the 'their' kind of emerald - not that I fly economy much on AA aircraft.

Interestingly, I have some O class QF code shares on AA metal coming up in a few weeks and have been able to select exit row seats on the AA flights using Qantas.com. :D

Hi Everyone,

Well I am sitting in the BNE J lounge and about to take my last flight as a SG because When i get off the plane in MEL I'll finally be a WP! Up until a couple of years ago I thought I would never make this lofty height. It's been a heck of a lot of flying, mostly all in Y too.

Ironically I became a SG on the same flight from BNE-MEL about 2 years ago.

But thanks to the many tips on here I've learnt over years from people here, it's been achievable, and should also be retained too. Originally it was going to take a couple more months but thanks to a couple of last minute trips, I've hit the mark after 7 months.

WP + PG is looking very likely too as I still have some JASA trips over the holidays coming up.

So thank you to all the people who have put in tips here - It's certainly helped me!

Nick

We are kindred spirits and should swap notes over the next 12 months.

So, what constitutes as a 'meal' in Y on AA nowadays?

My last dom AA Y flight was 6 months ago and from memory was a chicken salad of a decent size (with the usual pita chips). Not too far off from the offering in AA dom F. Maybe along the lines of QF dom J.
