Domestic J lounges (and I think there only 4 of them? - MEL, SYD, BNE, CBR) are just a small step up from Qantas Clubs (IMO). The CBR one is actually pretty nice, but it and the QP are relatively new, and I haven't been in the QP there to compare.

Expect slightly better food/bev selection (been a while since I've been to the SYD J lounge, but I will be there on Sunday so can report :)) but not much else. Someone who uses them more regularly than me may have an alternate view.

I have been easily able to select exit seats on AA flights - must the 'their' kind of emerald - not that I fly economy much on AA aircraft.
Yes I know you can select exit rows on AA flights.

Interesting that I can't select exit rows even when I call customer service. It could be a while before next economy flight on AA.

First visit to Syd bus lounge next week, will it be worth the wait ?

Actually one thing I have noticed in MEL is that there are usually newspapers in the J lounge whereas sometimes the QP has run out.

The only reason I notice this is because in MEL you walk through the QP to get to the J lounge. :)
