Mine reckons I've only done 18,000kms in the past 12 months.

It appears to be basing the distance travelled on flights booked under a QF code (Qantas operated and Qantas codeshares); JQ flights may be included as well. After reviewing my travel over the period (01 August 2017 - 31 July 2018) stipulated under '*' in the 'Important information' section at the bottom of the email, I've noticed that the flights I took with British Airways have been omitted from the total distance travelled. My Qantas frequent flyer number was included in all bookings.

Received today as well. Nothing that wasn't already known via previous QFF emails or AFF fora.

Says I've travelled 178,000 kms.....any better? o_O

Only 127,000km here. 650 short on P1 and it expired last week

It was the closest I ever got to P1

The 20% off point plus pay booking is a surprised. So it makes your points worth 85 cents if you book flight.

I also got the email and was very underwhelmed

168,338 kms here which supposedly is in the top 10% of WP's. Lots of award and Y flying, so less than halfway towards P1.

Just silly. Particularly after the P1 briefings have been so completely ridiculed. Keep it simple. "Here's a couple of bonuses for being a WP - points discount and wine discount. And here is a link to all the WP benefits, just to make sure you are getting the most of it".

4 line email. No spin. I reckon that would be well received.

115,000km, top 30% apparently. This doesn't make much sense as I just stretched past 1400SC for the first time with a generous dollop of DSC. How are the 70% of WPs who travel less getting there? I guess I use a lot more international Y fares than others

If my calculations are correct, to retain WP "only" requires 15 return trips in J from Sydney to Melbourne. That is just one trip every 3 weeks. And in distance it is less than 22,000km

Other oneWorld km aren't there. Apparently I've flown abt 24,000km to get over 2,000 SCs . Its mindless.

Marketing emails like this tend to be so sterile, almost not worth the effort to be honest.

Well, something is wrong with their calculations. I'm shown at 178,000 km. I'd agree with that if OW flights were included. My rough calculation has me at 118,000 on QF and 40,000 on OW carriers. Not that it matters.

I have an interesting month coming up flying QF long haul and OW medium haul, which in theory should see me top 200,000 easily, more interested comparing stats than WP newsletters.

Got this one this week as well, below is what it said

“You've flown 210,633kms in the last 12 months*. That's the equivalent of flying around the world 5times. “

Congratulations Top Flyer
You’re in our top 5% of Platinum flyers based on the kms you’ve travelled in the past 12 months^.

Whilst all that is nice to know information, would be nice if they used that metric of being in the “ top 5%”. Unfortunately all my travel is in Y (primarily International) and have not received a single upgrade on QF in the last 12 months.

No upgrade in a gazillion flights, but you did receive a fancy computer-individualized email!! And still not happy! Tough customer.... :)

I was bored (I am sick) and just read this properly.

There is a competition (closing 03 Oct) to have an experience in the B747 flight simulator including economy class flights to SYD, it seemed to indicate it was only for selected WPs.

Important information
Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum members not specifically targeted for this offer via email will not be eligible to enter the competition or win this competition.

Basically push a button and you're entered.

So I imagine everybody will now recheck their news letter and see if they got the competition link.

The prize includes:
  • Return Economy flights for two people from your nearest Australian capital city to Sydney (international flights will not be provided)
  • a Qantas Flight Simulator experience for you and a guest held at the Qantas Flight Training Facility.
The experience consists of:
  • a one-hour session for two people in the Boeing 747-400 flight simulator
  • a one-on-one pre-flight briefing with an experienced Qantas instructor
  • an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our Qantas Flight Training facility at the Qantas Jetbase in Sydney
  • an individual flight certificate and gift pack for each person.

Makes for a nice change from the daily bombardment of spamming QHI emails....

Yep this sounds about right. I punched all my oneworld flights into gcmap yesterday out of curiosity and ended up just over 40,000mi (64,000km) the bulk of which was on MH/JL

So I imagine everybody will now recheck their news letter and see if they got the competition link.

Both the Mrs and I received the link.
