Platinum Newsletter

The wine offer was actually OK, cheaper than Dan’s and including the very good GB Shadrach cabernet

Instead of the top 10% or 20% of platinums, did anyone get a really low rating?
I didn't get a rating at all. 47,620kms.

Underwhelmed with the newsletter as didn't tell me anything I didn't know already. Appreciated the entry to the flight simulator competition though.

I also don't get a rating . Most of my travel was on other OneWorld airlines which don't count.

So looks like I won't get any favours from QFF ( not that I did anyway).

S’ok. MrP didn’t get the newsletter and I did. He travels way more than me.

Pretty sure it doesn't include award flights. I've had three overseas trips on points this year and they don't seem to be reflected.

I am feeling very unloved :(
The husband got his email but I didn't get one

Same for me - husband got it, I did not, both Platinum. Maybe QF thinks men need a newsletter more than women, or maybe only one per household. I did not see great value in the newsletter but not sending it to everyone is unimpressive.

FWIW my partner (female) received one despite only attaining WP three days prior. It was sorted into Gmail's "promotional" section for both of us - maybe check your junk/spam folder?

Do Platinums still get a magazine sent to them regularly? A friend gave me the first one when he first reached that status several years ago. From memory it had little info in it but lots of ads for hideously expensive stuff. You know, the sort of items most Australians buy on a regular basis - a Porsche, Rolex, pink diamonds - the essentials. :-)

Thanks, but it was not Gmail, and not in junk or spam.

Not anymore. There used to be a magazine called Qantas Air (I think it may be the one you're referring to) that was sent out on a quarterly basis, however, it went out of publication around 8 years ago. The last episode was produced in December 2010. I don't think it was well received and consequently they stopped producing it. I seem to recall there was very little content of substance and it consisted mainly of adverts for high value goods e.g. Rolex watches, Louis Vuitton luggage etc.

When I clicked through to enter the flight simulator draw, it accepted me as registered without having to log in or anything.

Was that others' experience?

If so, then I guess the survey I filled out at the end was fully identifed to me when I submitted it?

Same for me

I made the top 10% with 155,590 kms - although I haven't had the time to check how they made that up, with a mix of QF, NZ, VA SQ flights the past year.

Perhaps we're too cynical.
It's been quite well received on AusBT.
My Platinum News email.
Strangely enough, one of the comments on AusBT was "....also like the special event invites like g,day USA,Mel cup an F1.." I didn't see that in the newsletter - maybe the commenter was reading another newsletter, although I know I see the emails at the start of the year with 'invitations' to pay to be at the Qantas marquee.

Yes - same here too. I entered the contest as being in the Flight Sim would be really cool - I wonder if @jb747 would be there

Perhaps top 30% of Platinums is the lowest rating based on kms travelled they stated on the emails.

I had 106,669 kms and top 30%. No offers.

Another lacklustre newsletter. Since when is Status Hold a WP benefit?

Pretty much the message I got was... this is the amount of points you've earned last year... oh we have great availability to SIN and USA for a limited time, use your points on premium cabins.

Nothing new or interesting, wondering what's their plan with these newsletters? QF needs to think a bit more how to keep their WPs engaged

Finally a useful mailout from "Qantas Platinum" - subject line "First & Business Reward seats available now"

The email also includes two unique codes for $50 off a Qantas hotels booking - a promising step in the right direction!

I just got this too! I wonder if P1s will get that or not (given they didn’t get any news from the previous platinum newsletter)
