Platinums can now use complimentary upgrade from a Choice fare

Nothing is a couple of hours from Perth ...well maybe Broome on a Link all Y class 320! 🫣
True, Perth far from everywhere.

At least you have the best beaches (Eagle Bay) and best reef (Ningaloo) and best island (Rottnest).

No need to leave the state!

Nah...if you don't need to travel why use all 4 jus to use them to get to MEL then have to buy a separate return? Sure if you need to travel then fine but it is not an incentive and is subject to availability. Don't rate this at all as a good Platinum incentive..(at least from PER). Easypeasy from SYD etc to have a nice weekend in OOL or somewhere just not from the West.
Seriously? Certainly better to have it as an option rather than not! Many people (myself included) have benefitted from that perk, I scored OOL-DPS!

Yeah well.its not that PER based can score DPS, or OOL or anywhere really without using all 4 one way on a choice. That's the point. Maybe get there if available, pay for the return. So yes 😒. The voucher campaign use is good for the east and rubbish for the west...instead of distance based it simply should be use one voucher on flex or two vouchers for choice for any trip on VA network. Not use all 4 on a choice fare for say PER-MEL and think they are doing us a favour!!🫣

Hopefully the VA PER-DPS flights get the nod

Why should you get more because you choose to live in the west?

Personally I think it's very fair and better than letting them go to waste. East coast has more options because there are closer destination that people actually want to go to. Don't like it? Don't fly.

Considering how much an upgrade is cash and points wise on the PER-MEL flights I think it's reasonable to pay more. (I say this as I've just used my last upgrade on MEL-PER amex free flight.)

So Virgin do not fly from Perth anymore to Kalgoorlie and Broome etc within the state. How sad.

Virgin website shows PER-KGI on 737s each day with Business ¬$300-$400 more than choice each way.

Free upgrades will work there. Why are they 'hopeless'? Only 1 Plat upgrade needed each way - correct? - seems like a great deal to me.

I love Kalgoorlie and environs - would MUCH prefer to go there than OOL. :D

Yes they do fly there ...Broome mostly in one class 320. As for KGI...well.its 35 minute flying time. Think I'll.use money more appropriately than that route..and yes I have been there. Any other destinations come to mind direct with VA? No....

So Virgin DOES fly 737 to Kalgoorlie - gotcha.

And last year I used free Platinum upgrades to Broome, in 737s.

Did not seem too 'hopeless' to me, I must admit. A $600 saving each way is not too shabby.

Not necessary so...but the option to use is very curtailed despite people having some success ex PER. Totally different and benefits mostly those on the East as ofcourse there is more flights to more destinations of shorter duration.

I don't think you can really complain about a benefit that wouldn't normally exist just because you can't find as much of a use of it as others because of your geographical location. Don't think QF offer that?

Every status perk is more valuable or a bum fluff to different members.

This perk of using WP upgrades on choice fares is a bit of bum fluff perk for Perthians.

That's what I have learnt from the last 3 pages of this thread.

Brilliant ! Only my employer paid for Flex fares, I usualy only book Choice fares for personal travel.
I just used my Pt Comp upgrades of two Choice fares to Business MEL-DPS.
I couldn't find the information on Virgin site but found it in the FF thread.
Good work team
