Points Club [launched in March 2020]

Car insurance, 20000 to join, 1 point per $1 spent.
Not sure how much premiums are.
QF can't even give us those who do not have credit cards, or drive, any more benefits, but to others, they give so much.
Half a point on $1 spent in Au domestic spend is all I ask, of the QTMC, but its only a measley 0.25 points per Au domestic spend on the QTMC.

Why should they? Qantas offer sign-on bonuses as a customer acquisition tool for very profitable products - they're not going to "give" points away for free.

But, there are also lots of products out there for the general public to build their FFP balance.

Do you have an electricity/gas bill? Red Energy
Do you have health insurance? QF Assure
Do you have a mobile phone? Kogan
Do you catch taxis/rideshare to the airport? Uber
Do you spend money on clothes/electronics/almost anything? Qantas Mall

In some cases you are effectively paying for points through higher premiums (Assure is a good example of this, and I assume the car insurance product will be the same) but in other cases, there is value to be had.

The T in QTMC might give you a hint as to why domestic earn is so low.

Why not look at the Qantas Amex Discovery? No annual fee for 0.75 points per $.

To get the full 20k your premium must be atleast $2000 per year

I think Late 2019 has gone out the window ( Get closer to your dream trip )
Not entirely surprising seeing as LTP was half-baked too – I believe the only member on here who has got the status was told their card would be 3 months away! Almost as if they didn't have anything prepared

I'm starting to get the feeling that the event in June was simply a way to devalue points while distracting with other announcements.

The insurance thing today may have been to distract from VA's HND announcement too.

I've been away for a while and haven't kept up to date so sincerest apologies if this has been already discussed in another thread but searching for Qantas points club only came up with this thread. I found some links on this Points club:

In summary, you need 150,000 points to be Points Club member and 350,000 points to be Points Club Plus member with a limit of 125,000 points per transaction (so I'm guessing credit card sign up of 150,000 points only 125,000 count) and a total maximum of 20,000 points from flying will count.
Points Club gets 2 lounge passes a year and Points Club Plus gets Qantas Club membership.
Most interesting part is "Points Club and Points Club Plus members will earn Status Credits on Qantas Marketed Classic Flight Rewards if they are a Points Club or Points Club Plus member at the time they fly."

I guess this points club will definitely be beneficial for business owners with spend over $350,000 (or whatever depending on their card earn rate) who will now likely get free Qantas Club membership?

Holy cough! JASAs are back for Points Club?! Huge if true!!!
Surely it's not april 1st already?

edit: but yes, if true, it would significantly change my behaviour and while still flying BFOD, it would make me far more interested in directing points revenue towards QF.

Seems very unfinished and draft. Why the heck would

The Status Credit earn rate for Points Club and Points Club Plus members on Classic Flight Rewards. Classic Flight Rewards seats are subject to capacity controls

The earn rate could never be subject to capacity controls - at a stretch, the ability to earn on any given flight, but not the rate. It then goes on to talk about rewards possibly not being available.

Looks to me like cut-and-paste drafting in progress, and far from finished.

So, nine months on and we still know nothing more?

Hmmm.... but will status credits be at the same level as revenue tickets? or some reduced rate? (on a mobile i get an error to the status credit earning link). It could be that SYD-LAX only earns say 1 sc in economy, 5 sc in business, and 7 in F

These look like snippets to me, built into their website's Content Management System or file structure that would ordinarily be pulled out onto other pages.
I'd think it very unlikely they would load something on their website (or even send it to the web team) that wasn't very close to the final intended copy. Far too risky.

Must be getting close though? I logged on to QF this morning and got a "Welcome to Points Club" message.

Maybe it's been expedited with everything happening right now to encourage us to keep earning points through methods other than flying?

I didn't get the welcome, but I do have a Points Club status showing under Platinum as I browse around my QFF account

I was expecting to be Points Club Plus based on the figures quoted a few posts back but we'll see how this pans out!
