Points Club [launched in March 2020]

I didn't get the welcome, but I do have a Points Club status showing under Platinum as I browse around my QFF account

I was expecting to be Points Club Plus based on the figures quoted a few posts back but we'll see how this pans out!
Same; though for me it depends on timing. If anyone is showing as plus, we can probably work this out. If calendar year I'd be points club, but if membership year I think I would be plus.

FWIW I’m showing plus member.
Anniversary date is... ironically... 1 April

Well this is interesting. Ran the numbers; I'm actually under 150k for the calendar year, but over 350k for the membership year, and showing 'club'. (assuming the activity statement and my spreadsheet are accurate).
I wonder if certain transactions are excluded or if there are caps by certain providers i.e. woolworths.

Edit: I just re-read @JFi 's post which claimed a limit of 125k per transaction. I have two transactions from the same source on one day, neither of which exceed 125k, but if summed (and i suppose the system might do that), would bump me back down to 299k.

Further thoughts based on news so far:
  • Will be interesting to see if 'club status' is only retained for the current membership year, or if, like QF status, it goes for the year it's earned +1
  • We will need to break out the old JASA sheets, filtered by simpler & fairer, to determine best use of points for those wanting to convert to SCs

Also, now getting 404 errors on those disclaimer links posted earlier. Someone's realised

No points club showing on my account yet :(

So my membership year rolled over November last year. Since then I have earned 140k Qantas points for the current membership period, so that makes sense.

It was definitely membership year in the info posted on QF's site yesterday: "In order to qualify for Points Club or Points Club Plus, members must earn 150,000 or 350,000 points respectively in a Membership Year. "
Ok cool, I missed that detail yesterday. In that case, we can surmise that there's a 125k per provider per day transaction limit or a separate annual limit per provider, else I'd be in the 'plus' category.

I suggest this will have implciations for people timing woolworths point conversions, credit card applications and amex referrals to friends and family in particular.

Me too, my membership year starts 1 April and my account is showing Points Club Plus under Platinum.

Looking at the benefits of the club I don't see them being too useful for me: I don't need Qantas Club membership (and don't get invitations to pass onto friends as I'm Plus and not the regular Points Club member); I don't redeem points at the rewards store; I rarely hire cars so when I do I don't need the upgrade. The SCs will come in handy for LT tally but as they are only applied to reward bookings which I don't book that often then it won't add much to my yearly tally but the 100 SC rollover sounds great.

I do buy wine quite a bit so 10% off is fantastic but I've just checked to see if it is being applied today but it isn't yet.

Seems I'm in the points club as well.

How do you find out the dates for your 'points year'?

Article summarising here

Earn SCs on Classic Rewards :-)

Membership year makes sense and would indeed make me Points Club. I'm not quite at 350k yet but have some CC bonuses lined up which will get me there and then some. The credit score can have a rest until next membership year 😁

In case Google cache loses any of the T&C pages, here they are in full:

* In order to qualify for Points Club or Points Club Plus, members must earn 150,000 or 350,000 points respectively in a Membership Year. A maximum of 125,000 points per transaction on the ground and a maximum of 20,000 points earned from flying will count towards these targets. Points received via Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward, Family Transfer, or Qantas Business Rewards Transfer will not count towards Points Club or Points Club Plus targets.

± Points Club Plus members will receive complimentary digital Qantas Club Individual membership for the duration of their Points Club Plus membership. Digital Qantas Club membership means that a member will not have a physical Qantas Club membership card but will be able to access their Qantas Club membership from their smartphone and view Qantas Club benefits online at qantas.com/qantasclub. If a member attains or retains Gold, Platinum or Platinum One tier and Points Club Plus level in the same Membership Year, only one Lounge Access benefit will be awarded, and the Qantas Frequent Flyer tier benefits, which contain more widespread lounge access globally, will prevail. The complimentary Qantas Club membership benefit is not transferable. Qantas Club members may access a Qantas Club, Qantas domestic regional lounge and a Qantas operated International Business Lounge when their next flight on the same day is with a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ, 3K, BL or GK) flight number on their ticket. You can link invitations to an eligible flight or transfer to a family member, colleague or friend through the Complimentary Invitations Portal section on qantas.com/qantasclub. So the two big ones - bringing back ASAs and rollover SCs

Points Club and Points Club Plus members will earn Status Credits on Qantas Marketed Classic Flight Rewards if they are a Points Club or Points Club Plus member at the time they fly.

A maximum of 100 Status Credits will roll over to Points Club Plus members’ next Membership Year. Status Credits that are rolled over will contribute to attaining or retaining a member’s tier status, except for attaining or retaining Platinum One status.

Yep, I'm really looking forward to these benefits and will actively push for the Plus level if these T&C are what's eventually published.

The article says "I’m very curious to see whether [status credits on reward bookings] will only apply to Qantas-operated flights." but the leaked T&C say the award needs to be QF marketed, and it's not possible to book a QF marketed but not operated award. Awards booked through QFF will always be operator marketed i.e. awards booked on EK are EK marketed.

So the answer is yes, going by the current T&C, the SC will apply to QF operated awards flights only.

Interesting that it says "Qantas marketed", not Qantas-operated.

Effectively the same thing for awards.
