Popped the Business Class Cherry on CX134 From Melbourne

People across the world and across all cabins can be very demanding and disrespectful to cabin crew.
Recent examples which spring to mind include rich Emeratis in F on EY and cheap British tourists in Y on IB.
Cabin crew really do appreciate simple courtesy.
They do prefer to work in F or J but this is for a variety of reasons.
They are more senior positions and they are paid more.
They also tend to open up better options for their rosters.
Crew with F training, in particular, are in demand for the long haul routes, with layovers in desirable destinations.
They avoid most of the undesirable turn arounds because most short haul aircraft don't have an F cabin.
They certainly do NOT prefer to work in F or J because the guests are better mannered or better behaved.
There are, however, fewer of them to look after, and the crew to PAX ratio is better.

To be fair to the OP though - out of all my experiences, in all the different cabins I have flown, I feel/find that Business Class passengers are the worse out of all the flyers

A few years back at the Qantas Lounge LAX, I witnessed a man demand an upgrade to First Class because "he knew the pilot". He was telling the agent to process the upgrade now and if the agent didn't believe him, he should "call the pilot" there and then, he was making such a commotion - what a loser I thought ;)

Recently, at the EK lounge at JFK, an Australian (yep, very clear Australian accent) was in the lounge - trying to tell his boss in Melbourne how his meetings went, what strategies were needed to close the deal - it went on for a good 20 minutes. Everybody within a 15 metre radius (that's conservative estimate) would have heard him very loud and clear. After that call he decided to video chat with his partner - again, overheard every little detail especially how he was relaxing in the lounge, and going to enjoy his nice flights back home to MEL via DXB. We did give him stares several times and he did reduce his volume slightly but that didn't stop him from raising it again. Whilst in the lounge my wife and I were telling each other / praying / hoping / wishing that he better not flying First Class as we didn't him anywhere near us - anyway, end result was he was indeed stuck in the business cabin ;)

Reading this thread start to finish has me thinking the OP is actually trolling. Each of his responses always seem to stir the embers and start a new wave of reaction...
Oh my thoughts mfc as I started to read - on every page this young feller just kept getting better. I loathe talking to people on planes....I don't go flying to making friends.

I recall with horror my first flight to the UK (many years ago and in Y from necessity = ie young and broke) I was sitting next to an older woman who would just not shut up. My husband muttered - "take your 'Moron Magnet' off for heaven's sake". She could have bored for Australia.

Thankfully now we can afford to travel business class we get to be bored by a whole better class of people. I only make brief eye contact or exchange a swift smile with other passengers to be courteous - and then retreat to my cocoon. Always always always I am polite and pleasant to the FAs.

What do you mean by 'a whole better class of people'? I hope I read it wrong because flying J surely doesn't make you or anyone else any better then people who fly Y.

Err...it was a joke, Joyce!! You can meet a lady and a gentleman in any walk of life - and pigs in all & any of 'em;)

When I fly economy the one thing that really gets up my nose is people who put their junk in MY overhead locker. Sorry to go off topic.

Funny that - last time I checked overhead lockers aren't labeled with names. I see your frustration, but as there isn't enough overhead locker space at the best of times, they are clearly a shared resource.

If everybody adhered to the carry on rules there wouldn't be a problem. The airline staff compound the problem by letting passengers get away with it. I have seen many times the ridiculous amount of gear some people bring on board. As for "a shared resource", all overhead lockers are clearly marked with their respective seat numbers.

Whilst I concede the seat numbers are placed on the overhead lockers, I disagree that they show ownership of the lockers, and would be for the purposes of displaying the location of each seat.

To start with, it is only the seat number displayed, and not any guidance as to what belongs to each seat occupant in terms of storage space which suggests to me that at a minimum you are sharing the space between those in your row. The second point is that if everyone were to bring the maximum legal carry on aboard, you won't have enough room for everyone to store it in the lockers, hence why the space is a shared resource, not an individual one.

My daughter-in-law's sister is a hostie & she disagrees with you & so do I. The point I am trying to make is that if everybody adhered to the limits then there would be no problem with some cretins using up 2 & 3 lockers. I remember one flight I was boarding & the gate staff were enforcing the cabin baggage rules. I thought that was great.

No, just my old fashioned term. They used to be called "air hostesses". Air hostess - flight attendant,,,,,,,what's the difference, just PC rubbish. It's a bit like the term "Negro" in the US. For years it was acceptable now it's "African American". I've never heard of a more ridiculous term. Oopps, I've probably opened up another can of worms here.

Well, hopefully you haven't 'opened a can of worms', as we are mostly a bit more mature.
