Home quarantine is also expected to be discussed at National Cabinet today so we may hear more from the PM whether in a National Cabinet press release or a Press Conference or both.

Can't wait for them all to agree to a home quarantine ROADMAP (preferably a one page powerpoint) in PRINCIPLE then approximately 4 minutes after National Cabinet ends, sprint their cough to the nearest camera who cares to breathlessly retract everything and say they will do their own thing at their own time because they are so big and tough blah blah.

Sadly you could be right on that. Though I think you mean principle, not its homonym principal. Principal is generally used to refer to a head person e.g. the boss of a company.

I agreed in principle to the correction of my terrible use of the word principal but as I live in QLD I will use it in my own slow way and use it to protect all Queenslanders and WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN

I actually hope they agree to a risk-based home quarantine system (ie State to decide for themselves) - based on the location you arrive from. Then transit requirements of where you arrived and where you want to stay at. I think the transit options need to be clarified and within it the State border might get leveraged.

that doesn't start until the end of this month and will only take 25 people a week for 4 weeks. So we are looking at end of October before any further movement on this front.

Yes but said premiers are really smart, all their state constiuents will spend their hardearned money, their $50K trip money on QM2, first class airfares to Rome, private Antarctica Cruise money all locally on local tour companies and their states CBD hotels. NSW probably won't reach 80% till mid to late October. I would have hoped they'd start to bring back en mass Australians overseas earlier than that.

Hopefully if the early stages of the trial go well they will move to expand it.

The PM is going to the US this week (Edit: 21-24 Sept). The Foreign Minister and Defence Minister are already there.

PM had the vaccine more than 6 months ago and no known booster shot, so it will be interesting.

It'll have to scale up unlimited, otherwise you will enter a raffle to get one of the 30 spots to have benefit of home quarantine, maybe a 0.25% chance every week of being let out. Once you WIN you have to write a letter of thanks to the government.

Dont worry, theyll still get in the number 14, you have to do twice daily self PCR tests, see magic number 14 still applies.

As good as the vaccine push has been, the powers that be have decided October is suck-it-up month. No big movements till Nov.

Anybody who thought we were going to go straight from a full lockdown to welcoming the masses at SYD with street parties along George St is just not being realistic.

It's a step in the right direction, and it will get there - soon. Before Christmas. Qantas and the federal government ban all align to a full opening by December.
