Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Is that enough 'announcement' to make airlines start selling seats to Sydney ?
It’s not his call but he’s signalling to the Feds to get their act together.

If I remember rightly Sydney Airport has more than 10,000 people working there on a normal day so getting it moving internationally is a priority.

I'm starting to see flights available for booking now.

@Flashback - if arriving at LHR from Oz and booked on the same ticket to fly into Manchester, do you have to enter border control at LHR and get luggage then recheck in to the next flight or can you stay in a transit area and do border control at the final destination?

Say What!!! Which ones ? I have been tracking the big 4 (Qatar, Etihad, Emirates, Singapore) and no seats yet.
Qatar. On the ones Im seeing they are using MAS to get into SA. So via KL. The direct ones using QR are mega expensive. Right now I'm seeing flights into UK and return in Y with a mix for 3 pax for $9500 total. Booked on QR. Also can book through MAS but longer transits.

SQ and CX are not showing.

Can't screenshot the full details but you get the ghist

You need to do immigration at LHR.

*Note UK Immigration is not like AU you wont need to collect your bags and re-check them after going through scanners.

UK Immigration is just passport control and your bags will be checked through to final destination.

That will pee off DIL who is UK citizen but my son and grandson are Oz. 😂. Grandson's application for UK passport is in the wind but well, Covid delays.
Australians can use the e gates on arrival anyway same as UK passport holders.
They won’t be able to regardless as I assume the grandson is under 12

So does this mean no SYD-SIN-LHR?

Nope, SYD-SIN-LHR seats are being sold from 14th Nov.

The DRW-LHR flights simply replace the MEL-PER-LHR, will eventually be MEL-DRW-LHR although you can probably fly SYD-DRW-LHR if you wanted to eliminate a international transfer provided NT let NSW passengers into DRW.

However with no transit lounge, one may as well transit via Singapore, as youd think QF could open its lounge to allow you a shower etc.

There are no SYD-SIN-LHR flights in Nov/Dec, they are are going via DRW

Interesting, Id only read about scrapping of PER-LHR, guess we have to wait for the A380s to come back online to go via SIN, shame.

So given NT have not opened up to NSW, presumeably you need to stay on board while the plane refuels?

Apparently the flights will be going via DRW until at least April next year. It would seem the transit arrangements are probably more favourable for QF going via DRW than via SIN.

Australia’s international borders could re-open for vaccinated travellers in NSW as early as November 1 under a fast-tracked plan announced today by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to allow us to “take our lives back”.

The proposal outlined by the Prime Minister follows discussions with the new NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet about fast-tracking the rollout of home quarantine.

The move away from 14 days of hotel quarantine for vaccinated travellers is regarded as a crucial step before international travel can start ramping up to pre-pandemic levels. Trials are currently away in several states.

News.com.au understands the date being looked at for the reopening of international borders under a home quarantine model is November 1.

“The NSW Premier and I have been discussing how we can accelerate our plan to open international travel when home quarantine is made available,’’ Mr Morrison said on Sunday.

“I know the NSW Government is looking at ways to fast track home quarantine in November and if that happens we will be able to move to facilitate the opening up of the international border into NSW sooner.

“Now, that would mean home quarantine for vaccinated Australians wishing to return home via Sydney and giving the option for international travel for vaccinated Australians to leave and return.”
