Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Though pages 46-49 qualify that as any medical expenses due to a diagnosis of covid. ie not all mediical expenses but those due to the covid diagnosis.

Good news

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed into the country from February 21. Ah, remaining visa holders

Good news!

How will their vaccine certification be recognized where required for entry to venue / events etc?

For cruising, letting the ships come here isn't the only issue. The islands we cruise to have to allow the ships to dock. Like PNG, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, etc. We have PNG booked for Nov, i am hoping they want the tourism income enough to let the ships full of vaxxed pax doc!

This is great news about tourists being allowed in again, hopefully this will lead to an increase in flights and/or existing flights less likely to be cancelled. Did anyone catch mention of the situation with pre-departure testing?

I assume status quo for now?

Slippery slope though, can see them trying to get out of paying for care if you are be treated for something else but have covid.

How are they going to validate dodgy vaccine paperwork from countries not exactly known for their honesty?

Or is this just a feel good measure to keep the locals happy?

When overseas people mostly accepted my Australian green tick in English. I suspected if I produced anything with a green tick on it I would have got in.

The deluxe solution would be some way of uploading foreign proof of vaccination, but not sure if states will bother. The other relevant question is how long QR codes and checkins will survive as a thing.

Cheers skip

Ours are definitely not accepted in the EU though. Realistically for the coming winter, the EU will be high on the list for aussies that do want to travel.

If we are going to accept their vaccine certs then that suggests there will be no deal on EU vaccine reciprocity.

My goodness the doona brigade are worked up over the border opening announcement...

Don't they realise that we will probably become a net exporter of virus anyway it is so prevalent here now lol.

Wow the comments on some papers blogs is hilarious. Good to see its and overwhelming minority though!

Any news on testing requirements???

The vaccination certificates are accepted for entry in Europe. Its just the day to day QR code scanning part that doesn't work. My SIL had no trouble getting her AU certificate accepted on the way into FRA. She then had it uploaded into the German system, but being a citizen probably made it easier.

Just sad little individuals who were never going to go anywhere else anyway (before or after COVID)

How long do AFFers reckon before quite a few foreign airlines announce greater frequencies, or resumption of flights, into and out of Oz to commence from April or May 2022, or upon the 'northern summer timetable' starting?

Unfortunately these individuals are huge in number in Victoria - perhaps still a majority of the adult population. Crazy and ill-informed: the whole lot need to travel if physically able to broaden their feeble minds.

Qatar have already improved the service into Adelaide.
