Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Qantas seem to have noted that everyone requires a PCR test 72 hours prior to departure. This is now an added cost particularly to the UK where only on arrival 2 day testing is required. Previously this was destination based

Oh yeah, definitely clear on the requirement within 72 hours prior to departure for a flight to Australia.

It’s just the press conference today indicated it would be required on departures from Australia too, rather than being based on the destination requirement (UK day 2 test, US pre-departure test etc.)

Any Business class seat availability to LA next year EVER would be nice Mr. Joyce. Just had a bit of a look and you can basically forget the whole "Double redemption seats in 2022" nonsense they've been blurbing about.

Cheap seats in the back, as per usual plenty. Proper seats up the front, hardly any. Nothing has changed...

Business award seats to SFO in March on QF! And plenty of availability on JL and CX to SFO, SEA and LAX :)

Thats correct, its required for any intl sector on QF (even when not required by the government, like LHR), Just fly another carrier and save the hassle.
 
Alan Joyce mentioned on Sky News today that they'll be looking at Project Sunrise for direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne to New York and London. Presumably looking at placing an order for the planes that is.
 
Does Airbus have any spare A350-900s at the moment?

If they did, would make sense for Qantas to lease a couple for a few years to start training their crews and make an easy transition to A350-1000s - and in the mean time help fill the gap on the non-ultra long haul routes.

Dan Andrews just announced he has been on the phone with Alan Joyce this morning and Qantas will have some ‘exciting international announcements for Victoria’ very soon!

Exciting!!!

Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed that from November 1, international travellers coming to Victoria would not have to quarantine if they were double vaccinated and returned positive tests.

"You'll be able to leave after the first of November … when you come back, if you are double vaxxed and you've been tested before and you agree to be tested within 24 hours, then you'll be able to go home," he said.

He said the hotel quarantine program would be reduced to just a handful of hotels, and the Mickleham quarantine facility due to open later this year would be used for those who were unvaccinated or had received a vaccine not approved in Australia.

Up to 150 people who fit into those categories will be allowed in each week to undergo quarantine.
 
And people thought in 2020 that long range mas travel would not be back till 2024 lol

A normal 350 can't do the job. They were ULR variants, though I didn't keep up on what the exact variation was.

It won't take all that much training for anyone on the 330 or 380. Normal delivery schedule for the ULR aircraft would easily be slow enough to allow the training necessary. coughpit is much the same as a 380, with two engines crossed out.
