Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Sadly for a midday flight mrssimongr was told twice to go to the normal lane as they don't do PB. Also two j pax near them were knocked back as well ( she was also in J) and they were in the mood to complain.

I will be complaining as well - I also had poor PB ex SYD for the first time in a while...

Was it a 734?

I hope this is not too off track but it there are any sociologists here, they can comment on how pax just don't read signs any more because there are just too many (no smoking is a classic). If you are in the QP and get the boarding call you didn't even hear the "rows 45 to 60" so I don't get upset at the boarding "rules". Having said that, the regulation of the PB lane has been really obvious lately on the Per-Syd-Per route I have been frequenting which is good. And FFers should also be aware that on any given flight there could be a first time flyer who has absolutely no idea how to do anything (I had one today) so be nice to them.

I'm seriously tempted to send one of my virgin post cards to Alan Joyce, the one on priority boarding, with a note to say this is why I no longer book flights leaving ADL with Qantas.

The vast majority of people who break the rules read the signs and fully understand that they are not complying with the information displayed. They just do not care as there is no penalty for ignoring the instructions provided.

In my experience, it is SG (not in J) who are the worst offenders in the PB queue. Almost 100% know they are not eligible but they use it anyway. No penalty, no compliance. It is simple as that.

Same. Although on an AA flight BWI-DFW last week it was half full of Australians connecting to QF8, and as a result the lockers were half empty!!

I really think this is one of the main underlying issues. IF there were strict carry on limits AND they were enforced it wouldn't be quite so important to priority board (as nice as it is). I too have witnessed the bunfight that goes on on USA domestic flights. It is slowly becoming that way here.

Gentle people,

Could we please go back to the topic in question without comments about each other. In doing so it is good use the smilies if and when posting something that could be interpreted inappropriately/incorrectly.

PB worked well earlier this week on QF501 BNE/SYD which was a 734!

I asked one of the F/A's why there were two of them (& it wasn't a CBR flight) & she replied that she was on airport reserve when Tony asked her to help out.

I had no idea who Tony was until I went onboard & saw the name of the CSM was Tony.

I don't know whether this was just a one off thing by a pro-active CSM or whether it's a directive from higher up however they did close the forward door 10 mins prior to the etd so it obviously made the boarding process go more smoothly.

QF 551 Mel - Syd was a bit of a fail on PB last night. Rope was too far over to give room for only one wide lane so all passengers had to board through the priority boarding lane.

That aint MEL-SYD :)

And all MEL-SYD flights start with '4' and are an even number :)

And of course gusty isn't entitled to domestic PB unless travelling in J, or his/her profile status is out of date

Oops! Thanks for that. Mel and Bris easily confused indeed. And yes, was flying in J. Even though most of my travel is in Y, it annoys me when people head to the PB lane when they're not entitled to it. Earn or pay for the benefit I say.

SYD-BNE on Friday and back last night. Priority boarding line was working well on both occasions, in Sydney they even made it very clear in their announcements prior to boarding that "the right line is for Business and Status passengers only, everyone else on the left please."
