Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

It's scary that they track you all that way... looks like I might never get another op-up considering the number of times I've complained about priority baggage at CNS.

its amazing what customer information the CSM can bring up on there iPads . Any comment that is inserted against your name can be retrieved very quickly, whether it be your favourite drink , seat , FF status , connecting flights , previous flights, complaints , service recovery actions , upgrades or anything that is picked up in general conversation with the FA's that they feel will enhance your QF experience .

I can understand favourite drink, seat and what not but everything else... -feels stalked-
Why is it important that the FA know if you got an upgrade or complaints and matters that are irrelevant to the service given onboard? Previous flights? Complaints? I'm perplexed as to in what way this information can improve inflight service.

I think my comments would be a mile long on baggage at CNS...

Yes , it was interesting what i found out , but not surprised if QF's customer charter is to improve customer service and try and maintain standards. I think if company's want to be serious in the game of customer service then they need to be armed with what ever tools & information on their customer that is available. In saying that it does rely on QF's CSM's & FA's being active and interested in there customers and embracing the tools available to them to make customer service a success , which in some cases, may not be in all situations.

As per the example above, they knew the pax had negative experiences with PB previously, so asked if it was better today. That's a very positive thing and shows that QF does note what people say and follow up - the very thing many here accuse them of not doing! Now they get criticised for doing it! Talk about 'no win' ......

Last time I was there, Cairns didn't 'do' Q-Tags!!!

That's my point - when you checked-in wherever, did they put a paper tag on the bag?

(Because if you checked-in using a Q-tag at BNE/SYD/MEL, but there are no RFID readers at the CNS end, then they wouldn't know whose bags are priority when unloading them at CNS!)

23/8 Flight QF476 PER/MEL (1.50pm departure) *live report*

Left the QC and with a Gate 14 departure, as soon as one gets to the bottom of the QC escalators and turn right, you're there (even better, the PB lane is in front and 1m away).

By the time I got to the Gate, boarding had commenced and the normal queue was 30 deep. There was only 1 in front of me in the PB lane - which is segregated through a separate door entry.

Turned left on the gangway and onto the A332.

No negatives. No #firstworldproblems on this flight.

And the penny drops!! No paper tags when inbound to Cairns, because I just bag dropped in BNE using Q-Tag.

Hmmm, dropped a friend off at the airport today gate 13 at T3 Sydney appears to have two signs on each lane both with a sign pointing left to PB and right to Non PB, meaning the Non-PB lane has a sign on the left that says it's general boarding and one on the right that says it's priority boarding

If you are gold status with Qantas, then surely your use of the priority boarding lane constitutes a failure to police the lane, and is really a PB failure?

I was under the impression QF WP was travelling on a JASA hence the eligibility to use the PB lane.

RedRoo - PB doesn't even seem to be offered at Canberra. The signs are there but i have never seen them used, nor an announcement made mentioning them. It is absurd. Any ideas?

I reckon in CBR you are better off in the general lane! More people are CL and WP on most flights!

Indeed, Tony Hancock and ozbeachbabe are both correct, on my return PER/MEL/BNE I'm on an I class fare. I have too many ethics to do the wrong thing. I was in 4B in J on QF 476 and now in 3C on QF636. I am now at Gate 2 at MEL.

For some reason, I can't post my photos of the success that was PB on both my flights.

Boarding was done via the two lanes by one FA. I was the second onboard and thus a success. Scanned by the same FA as did my PER/MEL sector, so he remembered me

Well considering we did laps of MEL and I had a MCT onto 636, it meant I went straight from Gate 21 to Gate 2 and no chance for a QC visit. Thought my bag might mis-connect, but it ended up at BNE on my flight. Thanks to the MEL baggage handlers :D

QF675 last Thursday, Gate 10 in MEL, QF694 last Friday, Gate 22 in ADL. Both 737s both text-book PB complete with announcements etc.

Regards,

BD
