Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

QF925 CNS-SYD was a free for all. No priority boarding was even attempted, not even the usual signs were up indicating priority boarding or general boarding lines.

No PB in CNS

7 Nov QF661 BNE/ADL

I was later to the gate (18) as I caught up with dfcatch in the J Lounge.

Everything set up and as soon as I hit the Peemium queue, the FA stopped processing the family in the General queue.

7 Nov QF661 BNE/ADL....I caught up with dfcatch in the J Lounge.

Looks like I missed a chance to meet another AFFer. Was also in the J lounge at the same time.

On a side note, PB on QF502 SYD/BNE this morning worked fine.

Well wonders never cease...PB in Adelaide this morning (QF660) was actually implemented and worked well!

I seem to have pretty good luck - almost all my flying is in and out of MEL/SYD/BRI and generally have to say priority boarding is being observed.

This morning a very long line for general boarding when I arrived from the lounge for MEL-SYD for a 7:30am departure and about 5 people in a shorter boarding line for priority which was being cleared by the FA on that terminal. 3 of us had walked from the lounge and of the other 3 there, 2 stopped at their seats in business.

QF 452 Mel Sydney today early fail. In my observation the priority boarding line rarely works when it is the lane closest to the gate seating area

Premium boarding on QF430 (MEL-SYD) on the 9th November was a spectacular success. It was a 734 with one person at the gate and the entire premium lane was processed before the general boarding lane.. I have never seen this before and an not aware if this same process is applied on other aircraft where there are two people processing pax at the gate. If this is the case I will abandon VA and give $20k worth of domestic travel back to QF.........although the on board crew was awful. ("Hello, wanna pie?" Need I say more!)

Sounds like you need to inform them of who you are... ;)

Maybe they thought he was John Elliott who was fond of Four n Twenty pies. During a memorable 'lost in translation' moment some time ago twenty four meat pies were loaded onto a flight somewhere O/S.

Whilst not QF, travelling with BA last week from LHR to DUB - one person processing and calling the boarding, called Club Europe/BA FF/OW FF Emerald and Sapphire to board after requesting small children/families to go first up.

I was fourth in the queue for priority boarding with a fair few people behind me, first lady went up, FA looked at her BP, thanked the lady but announced that she had called for club europe and frequent flyer passengers as the pax was neither, if she could kindly move off to the side and general boarding would be announced shortly. Oddly enough, the other two pax in front of me suddenly no longer needed to be in the line and neither did quite a few behind me!

Realised once on board that BA seems to have a 'bring all you can carry' carryon policy hence lots of people trying to get on quick. Props to the FA for being firm!

Well QF475 MEL-PER worked a treat. Arrived well into the boarding at Gate 11 and the PB lane was obscured so strolled up and straight on..

Epic fail at Mel on Friday.
QF410 to Syd. Gate 1.

For once I decided to stay in the lounge until the flight was called, as I didn't have big carry on, and didn't need to get there early to ensure I had a place for my cabin bag. Stupidly thinking, no worries, priority boarding, by the time I get to the gate I will be able to just breeze up to the priority lane and whisk onboard. Didn't happen

Approx 100 people in general boarding lane, and another 100 or so in priority.
I asked the FA when I eventually got to the scanner - "priority boarding not really working is it?"
He just grunted and said something like " they just keep on coming"

*insert first world problem rant here*

I'm getting really sick of Qantas Enhancements and not delivering on promised benefits. Been flying a fair bit lately (2-4 flights a week) and haven't felt the love once from Qantas. No CSM greetings, fail on priority boarding, no room in the lounge, sick of getting offered a cookie as a "meal"

Im probably going to regret opening up a whole can of worms here, yes I know CSM greetings not a published benefit, yes I know you fly 28 sectors a week, yes i know you prefer to eat at the airport anyway, yes I know its only a short flight and why do i need food etc etc etc, but Im feeling unloved Qantas. Don't promise a full service airline if you aren't really delivering.

RedRoo, why can't FA's police the priority boarding? As per ChasingDaylights post above - if people knew it was always enforced, they would not just line up where they please.

On a positive note - home at last, and feeling the love currently from my doggie who has missed me this week and has planted all 50kg of herself on my lap.
