Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

QF594 PER-BNE this afternoon had strict enforcement of the PB line with a gate agent checking all boarding passes and actually rejecting those who did not qualify. The very long PB line was thinned out very quickly when all of the interlopers where told where to go.

For the first time since PB was introduced, well done QF and keep up the very good work. For the PB cheaters, you are going to need better excuses than the ones you were giving this gate agent.

Noticed the same on my PER-MEL flight the previous day, although from what I could see, there wasn't any actual checking of boarding passes, just a query whether you were entitled.

Good effort, QF.

Worked perfectly today on QF509 BNE SYD. Despite delays due to fog, the General lane was long and the PB very short. The lanes were set up correctly and signed.

I was at the front of the queue ready to go, F/A's were in place ready to start boarding.

Then the gate F/A was called back onboard from the gate and the flight was cancelled.

Mrs QF WP learning there were 3 x J class flights out of 5 on this trip and she gets Priority Boarding on these flights :D

QF824 BNE/DRW 23/05

Because I dailied in the J Lounge with Cat207 and her +1, we were paged as last remaining pax to board (whilst Mrs QF WP had gone at the first boarding announcement). Signage was up but didn't get a photo as we were last 3 on plane :o

QF1939 DRW/ASP 23/05

As the QP was at capacity and the four of us were at the back, we got to the Gate towards the end of boarding. No signage given it's DRW??

QF1940 AYQ/ASP 26/05

You must be joking if you think there's PB at this airport - similar in size to EMD. No signage as expected - well there are only 2 Gates.

QF722 ASP/ADL 26/05

No PB and here was the line - given there were 11 other pax in the Lounge to whom we needed to say our goodbyes, the 7 of us on the flight waited until the end.

QF656 ADL/BNE 26/05

Perfectly executed. First Gate on left of QC, so straight into empty line on the right, whilst the normal queue was 5+ long. As soon as we arrived and CSA has processed current person, we had our proferred BP's taken and scanned.

Ah yes that is undoubtedly true if you include OWS / QF SG. If that's the case I reckon they should make priority boarding OWE / QF WP / J.
!

Domestic QF Priority Boarding is only for OWE / QF WP / J pax.

Priority Security Lanes include also OWS and SG at those ports where it exists.

Hang on - that's an A380, so F is on the lower deck. There is often a lot of confusion about the "F and Y" boarding arrangement on the A380. (I know of F pax who have waited patiently in the Y line).

I thought the F boarding line was separate to the Y boarding line but funneled into the same aerobridge. That way you end up with 3 boarding lines F, J(+upstairs Y when it comes) and Y. Then again my memory is sketchy as I haven't boarded a QF A380 for close to a year now.

Depends on the gate set up used at the time. F can have its own bridge that enters at Door 1 and is exclusive or that door may not be used and F has to mingle in with Y at door 2

In SYD that's fairly uncommon unless bridge A was unserviceable. All A380 capable gates that have jetbridges in SYD, have 3 jetbridges. QF tends to use gates 8, 9, 10 or 24 for A380 flights which are just below the lounges.

My last few DOM flights (except CBR) worked fine for PB.. Been about a month since I flew domestic though.

QF525 from BNE on 6th June was a complete shambles. The hoards had over run the PB lane and QF staff were not policing. We ambled around to the GB lane and found only about 8 people in it so used that instead.

Worked fine tonight on QF453. Pushing nearly 200 flights in the last 14 months and I can cound the amount of times PB failed on less than one hand.

Very contradictory to all the other posts I see!, maybe Im just lucky?

By what measure are you determining flights to fail and succeed?

Have noticed that priority boarding seems to be work most times now (perhaps through pax self regulation rather than enforcement?). The only problem is still the small signs that divide the queues.

That when I use PB its to the rules? Im not a first on board kinda guy and when I normally arrive at the gate the GB line is long whilst the PB line is very short or non-existant. Normally around 10mins after boarding commences.

QF446 worked a treat today!

So you're confident that every one of those people in the premium lane are indeed entitled to be in that lane, rather than lining up there because they know all the gate agent is interested in is getting everyone on board, regardless of status?
