Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Small and out of the way airport - Sanya Bay, Hainan Island, China (SW of HK) flying Dragonair - has priority line and private bus to shuttle J (don't know if it included WP but assume so) to aircraft, boarded and then the Y's boarded (2009 and in 2010 had to wait on shuttle bus a little while staff finished cleaning and still Y bus had to wait til J pax boarded.

Recently completed NAN run all dom flights waited near front of line before call to board, having only carry on and seated in 1A, if I had waited for call from J lounge I would not have got over head bin space.

I can really only see this working as intended on Qantas' leisure routes, when there isn't 60+ WP's, 10 OWE and another 12+ J passengers travelling on the service.

Point taken Insider - BUT - every other major airline seems to be able to make it work including on plenty of routes where there is a high percentage of status flyers.

Very clear now that QF do not want to implement domestic PB and are looking at way to "Enhance" this web site proclaimed WP benefit that was never physically implemented.

just read the ABT article....Qantas's response is absolutely rubbish...the choice of when to board ("at our convenience") is just that. The fact that some eligible users choose to stay and enjoy another pizza or glass of red doesnt mean that Qantas can just decide to not implement something that is published on their own website and also as part of the oneworld alliance. I like to put my hand lugguage infront or above my seat...hate to have push through people when the seatbeat light is turned off....

Flew J-class PER to SYD on DJ's A330 service. This is the second time I have flow the wide-bodied service- I can say that is the service is exceptional and most importantly its consistent good! Dont get me wrong, you do get exceptional service on QF but it is so inconsistent and mixed with the bad eggs...its not good for a premium airline. Yes- the hard product on the 744 is better but its the soft product that we are paying for.

They only had 1 scanner operating and priority boarding worked a treat. The flight departed on time and had decent yield.

If there are any more "enhancements" with WP, I will just shift to Virgin and use SQ/*Alliance for overseas trips.

How is it even more clearer than what it was about 3 posts ago?

No, i was just asking how is it 'even more clearer'?

Clearer now that VA have granted me WP status and I no longer need to put up with QFs inability to understand what their WP are seeking. Hello to a real domestic PB system that works and does not make excuses about why it can't be made to happen despite the QF web site saying it is an available benefit. Also hello to ATA, upgrade vouchers and family points / SC pooling.

After reading you posts here, I'm sure QF will not be concerned at all about you changing to Virgin. Will be interesting to read you posts in 12 months time about Virgin.

So if I point out and highlight that QF are not delivering quoted WP benefits, you see me as less than desirable than those than choose to not speak out? Are you also suggesting that QF will be glad to see my back? If so that will never happen. As I have stated I will retain both WP and SG for my partner with QF while retaining WP and SG with VA. I will fly with VA domestically when ever I can. Why? Because VA have never failed to deliver their stated FFer benefits. With their real and working domestic PB, I can be assured my carry on baggage will always find space in the over the exit row storage bins. With QF that is not possible. No opinion here. Just reality.

I have a voice and will continue to use it to point out when FFer benefit providers fail to deliver their stated benefits. If you will do the search, you will see I pointed out to both VA and Priority Pass the issues with non disclosure as the PP VA lounge program ended.

Enjoy waiting in the 50 mtr long queue while I walk up to the single BP scanner and ground staff, via the dedicated lane and walk onto the aircraft with a wink, nod, thank you and smile on my face.

What I really can't understand is why QF can't or will not do this as it is really very simple to do and why die hard QF supporters see me as undesirable for pointing out issues that are really very simple to sort out. Mate don't kill the messenger but get upset with the message. QF don't really care to deliver stated WP benefits. Plain and simple.

I'm with you.Reading the same message for the third time is tolerable. The 50th time is just tiresome.
ATA has never been a priority for me.much better things to do than go to an airport unless flying. When I arrive I just want to get out of there.
Priority boarding-it didn't take long for me to figure out you got to the gate early so as to board early and get your bin space.
And hey I jumped from QFF over 5 years ago rather than become a grumpy old man at how they were treating me.
The other benefits of being with an OW partner at present are superior to the opposition-for me long haul OS premium cabin awards and upgrades.
Of course it may change and then i will.

If QF decides that it is unable to offer priority boarding then I will not complain. I experienced "the scrum" twice today - MEL-SYD. I have done the status match and will try VA/DJ in early October. If the experience pans out as others are suggesting I suspect VA/DJ will pick up at least some of my domestic travel. It is nice to have a choice now.

My recent QF experiences in Y, over the last week, have not been pleasant. Surly FA's and no priority boarding seem to be the norm at the moment. :(

The real advantage of priority boarding for me as a WP would be getting to my seat and having somewhere to put my bag (well within limits). Forget about Business Class worrying about someone using the loo. The number of people who dump bags in the first section seats 4 - 8 is quite high and no assistant to guard this area. I often feel like removing the offending bag when I see it happen. So waiting for the queue to dwindle down is counter productive if I have to put my bag four rows behind me and have to start a rugby tackle to retrieve it at the end of the flight.

Are you perhaps confusing 'decent yield with 'decent load'? You can have a full flight but make zero yield if you haven't crunched your numbers right.

Look at Pan Am - their F cabin was chockers with World Pass holders on award tickets and airline staff on heavily discounted tickets as the airline had absolutely zero yield management in the F cabin. The rest is history.

Yes details please as QF had indicated they were moving the PB Syd trial to another, so far unnamed, airport.

QF 465 (SYD-MEL) Sat night. VH VXD , I think it is the plane with Optus livery. Gave me lots of time to explore the creaky somewhat broken 2F. They called for mobility impaired pax then Business, platinum and gold I think. Gate 13.

This is just the early boarding call, not priority boarding. Right?
