Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

No it hasn't started in SYD yet, pretty sure it is 5 Dec, or something. I was just observing that they tried the old system of a pre-boarding call and it was a total failure! Still! But points for effort. I almost asked why they don't control this better, but left it due to the impending change.

Cool, looking forward to it on Monday morning, SYD to BNE. Old system gave me grief for a while, almost pointless, which is why I'm looking forward to this :p

Indeed, I'm looking forward to it as well. A separate lane is a great outcome. But the pre-boarding failure frustrates me because Virgin do make it work. I'm still amazed that qantas can't make it work, it's not rocket science after all.

Don't look at the past. Have you tried PB yet? This was my first & only time, & I thought it was quite good, just not 100%. A big step forward. :o

PB worked well ex PER on Mon, but was non existent ex Mel on Tues. I don't recall any PB announcements at either end even though I had left the lounges prior to boarding calls. PB is not a biggie for me, but it is interesting to see how it is handled at various ports, and I understand why those who really care about it get so frustrated by the inconsistency.

Jacfin itis inconsistent as they are just rolling it out. Mel starts on 12 Dec.

Sign and system up and running in bne this morning.

By the time I arrived from the qp there was a long line in the "normal" queue, and they called everyone (who were also mostly also from the qp) into the priority lin to even it up. Who knows what they would have done of a J or DYKWIA arrived and actually wanted priority!

4A as a gold for the 6am was good too......

Yes, I've tried it a few times with virgin and it is excellent. But then virgin can also do pre-boarding properly. With reports of them "evening" the lines I'm not sure qantas will make a separate line work properly. I'll hold judgement.

I am happy to report that I was at BNE last nite during peak hour...the PB line worked. I waited for the usual "enjoy your journey" call to leave the biz lounge.

When i got there, there was 80 ppl waiting in the normal line and the PB line was empty.....i walked straight up and it was all good!

Finally QF honouring their published benefit.

Hooray! Successful use of PB at BNE this morning :)

Have QF flights coming up this week, but out of MEL and no more planned for the year - will miss out on seeing PB in action by just a few days! Everything else for the next few months is either VA or international, so will have to wait a while before giving it a go.

Props to Red Roo and QF for finally coming to the party on this - but also a massive thanks to gowatson (who seems to have disappeared ) and others for their persistent 'bleating' which may have annoyed some (myself included at times) but has brought about a real, tangible result that benefits many fellow FFs. :)

No priority boarding for QF510 out of SYD this morning - anyone fly out of Sydney later in the day?

In fact, it was probably one of the worst examples I can remember of boarding for QF510 this morning, with the scrum forming two lines (one in each direction half way to the adjacent gates) by the time the first boarding call was made.

Sitting at Qantas SYD Domestic terminal - all Cityflyer gates (1-14?) have a priority boarding sign (sturdy looking one on wheels) and a red tape. Looks like it's finally here!

<edit - too early, forgot where I was>

PB was in place out of SYD last night. As it was 10pm and fairly quiet, there was just a small stream of pax coming in from the Lounges and no line up, so we all just went straight through. Good to see it there though!

Good also to see it in operation when it isn't needed. I could see this being done only at peak hours but ingraining this in the psyche of pax and crew will make it work!

Interested to hear if PB has actually been rolled out to all Cityflyer gates in Syd. Flew Syd - Mel yesterday, three gates looked as if they'd been missed.

Went out of Gate4 at SYD on QF528 to BNE.Certainly working.2 supervisors it seemed-one talking to the FAs about how to manage the lines the other walking down the priority line making sure only eligible pax there.however when we arrived 12 in priority lane and only 1 in general lane.
Two funny problems-first a woman in a wheelchair is preboarded and must have been halfway down the airbridge when FA suddenly shouts out stop-you are on the wrong flight-you are 926 to CNS.
Then mrsdrron goes through for seat 2A.I am holding 2B-red light.Equipment change-to an International 767 so no 2B and I have been put in 5J.Go to desk and agent puts us together in 3J,K.When i board-about half way through boarding but escorted on by GA,I notice a couple in 5J,K.A little later a woman boards, obviously for 5K.Says to the couple you are in my seat, they say no but she says show me your boarding pass.Next thing I hear is -"nice try but you are a lot further down the back."

Why do people try this? Maybe because of articles like the one the other about "blagging a free upgrade"...
