Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

For many of us priority boarding means boarding last spending more time in the QF lounge
QF is not like American carriers scrambling for overhead space

Not sure I agree these days; have you noticed the recent tendency for economy passengers to slip their hand luggage into the J overhead bins as they saunter down the aisle, with little policing by the flight attendants at the door. If you're on late having been called later in the J lounge, then finding room for your bag can be a challege.

Actually here's a question: I was travelling with a non-status colleague the other day, and actually I was entitled to priority boarding myself but of course he was not. So when the PB call was made I simply said to my colleague "let's go, you are with me after all". Does this seem reasonable?

The rules don't seem to address it, but in my opinion it's acceptable to take a couple of others through with you. But I'd draw the line somewhere short of a single status pax taking his football team through with him!

In fact I'm pretty sure the VA rep has posted on here that members are welcome to make reasonable use of status benefits for travelling companions.

My view is:

I'll extend those status benefits to the number of people that I would be able to extend lounge access to.

For example, if I can take 2 people into the lounge with me then I'll have no qualms about taking two people in the priority boarding queue with me, or in any other priority queue (eg: check-in).

I think it is essential that WP's provide feedback where QF is not enforcing priority boarding.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app. Sorry if this post is snooty it is sent from Sydney.

But to engage in this level of dibber-dobbing, how exactly are you going to know? Are you going to check your fellow pax's boarding passes?

I suspect there are those who just can't resist letting everyone know how they are cheating the system.

No need to look at BPs the type of people who assign themselves an excess entitlement invariably have their QTags attached to their handbag. Of course, much in the same way they flash gold Qtags they also flash around BPs as well. Not might fault if I read things shoved under my nose.

if you had bothered to read the thread you would see this question has been discussed and answered. I guess you have a different motivation here?

Buddy, I guess you do too: "if you can't annoy somebody there's little point in writing". Touché

About Carry on Luggage

I took this picture at a lounge in BUD earlier this week. Sorry, blurry photo.
The photo doesn't do justice, but the size of this carry-on was HUGE.
Flight was BUD-FRA, LH. He was sitting in J, in front of me.

How about the set up on the right.....

Those are both out of control.

Yeah but it is the quality of the people you annoy that counts. Some people are not worth annoying, but that doesn't stop me from commenting when they are wrong. Besides, does it annoy you when people have a different opinion?

That one on the left appears to be way oversize for cabin baggage - are are you saying they let that on? The set up on the right is at least two bags, a silver one with a smaller black one sitting on top.

Question to me amaroo?
If so, the right is a silver roller case with a black laptop carry case on top, and yes, the silver roller was a decent size too.

Happy travels!

Had any decent eggs benedict over there?

Yeah, it went on. Was on BUD-FRA, LH sector (I was in J too). He was in row 2 and me in 3. It was massive for carry on.

And to keep this on topic, there was NO priority boarding at BUD either. So, LH can fail too. From the 2 LH flights l have taken in the past 10 days, no priority boarding. There was however decent size scrums both times, LOL.
