Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

What it boils down to is: it's a schemozzle in all respects and nobody at QF seems interested in fixing it.

The other thing they could do if they felt proactive, would be to give a pre-emptive announcement prior to getting the go ahead from the FA's (which is normally pre-emted by a few who see the FA's appear from the aero bridge, those few are followed by a few more, and then starts the stampede before a call is given).

Something like "For those passengers travelling on QFxx_, please remain seated while we explain the boarding procedure which will start in approximately 5 mins, we will start with infants etc. then will board by rows. etc etc".

Yep, I agree.

There's no reason for it to be hit and miss (mostly miss?). We're well past any "teething issues". Either QF aren't interested in making it work, or are incapable of making it work. Neither are positive.

Honestly, how hard is it to (a) implement a consistant boarding call that explains it, (b) have the signs clear, legible and pointing the right way, and (c) have someone policing the queues. It's not rocket surgery.

They are definitely capable (my 5 year old could do it with a little bit of help), they just aren't interested.

Worked last Friday, in Sydney, for a SYD-PER flight.

On the way back, coming down from the QC in PER, l decided that the regular line was just too long and gave it a shot. I'm only QF Gold. Worked for me, no-one checked my status.

Do you use the bus or T2 lanes as well when you shouldn't? What about handicapped parking spaces?

This is part of the problem - not only have QF not pushed it as they should - people like are happy to flout the rules to get benefits which are not included in your conditions of carriage.

You, and others like you are the problem, stop blaming Qantas. Did you push past the Q in the air bridge, then shove past peeps stowing their carry on just to get to your seat 30 seconds sooner ? I'm frankly sick to death of this thread and others like it. 199 pages !!! Get over it people. (steps off soapbox).

WOW.
What got under your skin tonight? I now see why some people refer to WP's as WP's....

I used the PB lane as an experiment, to see if QF were enforcing the rules, as they should do.

When l used the line in PER (last Sunday), there were about 20 pax in the normal line and 6 in the priority boarding line. This is also the first time l have used PB when not entitled too, in over 30 flights. Not only that, 2 pax in front of me, their BP's had no status and were in Y. Guess they shouldn't have used the T2/bus lanes or handicapped parking spaces either....

Once in over 30 flights. Yes, l am the problem.......

As WP for the last 7+ years (including a few years as WP+) I don't mind that you use the PB lane occasionally - it's DOM, it's only PB until you get into the air-bridge & it's managed poorly.

I understand that I'm in the minority!

Sorry folks, QF is the problem. It is simply a poor and confusing effort. No PB on 734's no PB at Adelaide or Canberra to name but two. The staff have no inclination to enforce it and management have no interest in it being enforced.

amaroo, since l've only used PB unlawfully once (ever), how many more times can l used it before l get shot by a AFF member??? ;)

I don't really care that much about it.

The point is that they are not doing the task properly, which actually makes the situation worse and more shambolic, so why even bother?

Agree. I think it's fairly clear that for whatever reason, QF aren't interested in making it work. If they were, it would be working.
100 monkeys at 100 departure gates would have it working by now.

Disappointing, but I'm over it, frankly.

Both QF and the offenders are the problem. They are inextricably linked.

An extreme example is that if a judge (QF) lets a murderer (dishonest PB user) walk free, the murderer has still committed murder and has done the wrong thing regardless of the ruling.

Btw it has been said several times but dom PB is only available at PER, MEL, SYD and BNE. Not at CBR or ADL.

Has anyone ever asked the gate agents prior to boarding "will PB will be enforced during boarding of this aircraft?" to see if they will actually do it?

At least get your story strtaight, either you "decided that the regular line was just too long and gave it a shot" or "used the PB lane as an experiment, to see if QF were enforcing the rules". Can't have your cake and eat it too. The pax you refer to possibly weren't AFF members and didn't understand how it is supposed to work. You did it fully knowing you were in the wrong. I rest my case your Worship. Nothing personal but yes, you are part of the problem.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all. So by the argument you put forward it is perfectly acceptable for murderers to walk free in Canberra and Adelaide???????

It is a black and white issue for gate agents...as DJ consistently prove, by sending those that do not have the status for PB to the back of the queue.

Chill pill people. There are so many problems with QF PB one extra person going against the flow makes no difference. The problem is qantas. That's why I intended to never book another flight with them from ADL. DJ can do PB. It's not that hard.
