Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

ADL yesterday. Absolute shambles

It wasnt as bad as it could have been, except that they continue to board both lines at once (wheres the priority in that?). Though the lady I snuck in front of was seated way down the back with no status....

Have to admit, my tactic for boarding is to only utilise PB lane if myself or my travel partner have a window seat. It saves stuffing about squeezing past people if I board late. Usually though, I book an aisle seat and tend to be one of the last to board for the same reason. PB's should only be for window or business class folk, IMO.

Now here in lays the issue with PB. Based on your verified Status in the QFF program you are not entitled to use PB. PB is available from Gold status and up only. Yet you clearly state that you use the PB line when you have a window seat !!!!!!

It's all a waste of time when everyone ends up in the same queue in a single aerobridge anyway.
Especially as the air conditioning is often pretty inadequate in the aerobridge!
Have had better experiences sometimes with EY and CX maintaining a tape barrier down the centre of the aerobridge.
Otherwise I just try to be the last one to board - hopefully without being paged!

I have had Gold before and in some cities, Qantas Club members can use PB

With respect please name those cities where PB is allowed and endorsed on the website for QC members(other than Gold or Higher QC Members) and under status benefits? Having being Bronze Silver Gold Platinum and Platinum One I have never seen this anywhere.

What has been seen is people who are NOT entitled to use PB but feel they deserve it, totally ignore the rules and do what they like making a mockery of the rules.....

I've been QP member for years and never seen access to the PB queue offered.

For reasons that have been outlined in this thread several times previously, no, it is not a waste of time.

That's your opinion.
After waiting in hot stuffy aerobridges I have a different opinion.

QANTAS really needs to go with the AA boarding process where they board by groups and send you back if you don't have the correct group on your boarding pass. You need to be at the gate before boarding but it really works. If elites want to spend extra time in the lounge they can be they can and board with which ever group they want.

But I'll already be onboard and settled before a queue even forms...

If your ambition is to sit inside a metal tube on the tarmac for as long as possible then that's great!
That isn't my ambition, at least not on a 737.
If I'm in J or F on a wide body aircraft and they're using two or more aerobridges then I don't mind relaxing with champagne* for a bit longer!
But that isn't a common scenario for QFd.

*Note: Grant Burge is not champagne!

Yes. Different philosophies. I like being onboard and settled in. I understand that others want to be last on. But not me. Just because you think it's a waste of time doesn't mean that it is to me.

I agree TomVexille I start reading switch off, relax and I know that there is plenty of room for my bag in the overhead locker.

Total fail leaving PER for SYD on Thursday. QF social media team say they will investigate. I also noted a flying pig coming in to land that held up our departure :)

Flying pig ? Can you explain ( Pauline Hanson here)

Fail land at MEL on Friday... Priority Boarding staff just walked off for 5 minutes leaving us all lining up as the standard queue kept moving (Super long so not worth moving over)

Departing ADL on Sun 8 Nov in the afternoon to SYD - complete scrum, but what I found more irritating was 2 pathetic responses from QF staffers about it:

1. I asked the woman (ground staff) who was supposedly in charge of the priority line why she wasn't enforcing priority boarding - she said 'normally we do on Sundays' - non responsive to my question, but at least a tacit acknowledgement that they weren't enforcing it for that particular flight.

2. On board I mentioned it to the CSM who said she would note it and pass the feedback on. But later in the flight an FA came up to me who said that she had been in charge of the other line and she hadn't seen any problem with the priority boarding line (ie undermining my complaint to the CSM). But in further conversation with her it turns out that her understanding of "priority boarding" is that as long as you are at the gate when boarding starts, there is an announcement for J, WP etc to board first. But if you arrive at the gate after boarding has already started, too bad you have missed your chance. I should have asked her why she thinks there are 2 signs because on her misunderstanding of the PB system you would only need the announcement, not a special lane for PB.

Seems that QF still just doesn't care, and doesn't train its staff properly. Makes me wonder what would really happen in an emergency - are they actually properly trained for that? Or is that all just pretence too?
