Wished a few more properties followed the CP PNG policy of making all their rooms available on point breaks:

Doesn't mean you'll actually get that room though. Many hotels that advertise PointsBreak in similar ways don't actually give you the type of room you booked...

It may be a mistake and they may downgrade anyone that books it,

Ours (in Christchurch) was down graded but they reinstated the original booking without issue when I rang them. :D :D

List has been updated for stays until 28 Feb 09

Current Oceania hotels:
AUSTRALIA
Crowne Plaza Hotel PELICAN WATERS GOLF RESORT & SPA
Crowne Plaza Hotel TORQUAY

PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Holiday Inn PORT MORESBY

Hm, I tried CP Pelican Waters (might get rid of my revenue stay and rebook as a 5000 point break for Jan 2009) but it came back with 0 availability.

I think availability hasn't been fully loaded yet. You might want to try again in 12-24 hours.

Hope they include more hotels, otherwise a very disappointing selection this time!:(

Availability is now loaded for the 5K special at pelican waters (you just need a GPS to get there).

And that would be what ... the group code ?

Ah, if I change to 'best available' rather than what it auto populates it gives me:
1 QUEEN BED STUDIO NONSMOKING

If you have been there before you will know what i mean, the hotel is not the easiest hotel to find, and they have the strange habit of making you pay upfront for your stay rather than just taking an authorisation on the card.

And I had no PC Platinum status recognition at all, and even though the desk agent confirmed I was paying an "eligible" rate, I was denied PC points because they later claimed the Entertainment Card was not eligible!

Nice room though. We paid for a 2-bedroom suite.

I dont think PLat would have made any difference, there was no recognition for my stay! Regardless, I now have a 5 night booking for next year that was paid for using points from a three night stay in Canberra at the start of this month - value for money is pretty good sometimes with Priority Club when pointbreaks have the right hotel and there is a 2x or 3x earn promo on at the same time , ironically my stay at Pelican Waters previously was on a low rate that got rid of the first stay no double points part of the promo!

Works well for me, I had a 3 night stay booked there for January anyway; so dropped that to the Queen Spa Suite for the first night (paid) and then points for the latter 2 nights (Queen Studio); as we're not likely to be spending as much time in the room the last 2 nights anyway. Win/Win.

The points break list should get an update tonight, if you need to grab a last minute room at Caloundra then you should do it today for stays up until Feb 2009, interstingly you can also book at this rate for Nov 2009 owing to a quirk in the system:

Rate Type: Reward Nights Rate: 5000 Priority Club Points for Arrival Night
Total: 5000 Priority Club Points for Entire Stay
Rate Description: Use Priority Club Rewards Points to pay for your stay. Points will automatically be deducted at the time of booking.
Tax: 10% per night included in rate effective 3 November, 2009 thru 4 November, 2009
Room Type: 1 QUEEN BED STUDIO NONSMOKING -

If this is Crown Plaza Pelican Waters, then I have just checked out of there today; had a Queen Spa Suite for the entire stay. Very nice room for the price

List hasn't been updated yet - but the predictability of updates isn't that easy. Plenty of hotels in China on the list. Perhaps an option for people heading over there soon.

Would be nice to get some good Australian hotels on the list this time. While I've got no domestic travel planned this year yet, I'm sure I could arrange something for the right stay incentive!

Cairns for 2 nights in May would be perfect but I don't think it will be on the list.

Otherwise some hotels in New York, Paris, Rome or Greece in September would be even better....
