Priority Club, TopGuest and getting 50PC points a day

Resurrecting this thread Bundy Bear put me on to topguest. At the rate I am belting along I'll have enough for a free night at a Holiday Inn in about 2017. An IC will take until about 2025.

I need to boast that I have become Mayor of HI Cairns though and with tourism as it is I did that with 4 check-ins and I am unlikely to be challenged. One question for anyone else using it. It's one check-in per day. Is that a Dallas Day, a Sydney Day or a straight 24 hours?

I have had a check in for BNE and SYD in the day come through !

It does not take long to rack up points for a pointsbreak:

You have earned a total of 13850 Priority Club Rewards points with Topguest.

About 7,000 points here and mayor of various HI's. I've noticed that Hotel Indigo doesn't seem to trigger it. Well, the one in Glasgow didn't and I'm sure the one in Paddington didn't either.

Occasionally I'll sometimes get a double credit, but doesn't always happen when doing more than 1 per day.

The rules specify CP, HI and IC only. For HH they specify Hampton and Doubletree so not much opportunity here in Australia.

Well you can be the mayor HI Cairns, I won't try and compete with you on that, while you are doing your morning walk you can do the HI Cairns check in which will keep the mind active.

Interesting, I can usually do +/- 100m away, however once I was 50m away from the IC Park Lane and it told me straight away the check-in didn't count. Anyway, as I was passing later in the day, tried again and all good.

Thanks for the tip, I've just checked in to the nearest HI to me (700m from where I live) and I've already had a response back saying "you've earned your 50 points today" as a result:!: :p:D

I found the first foursquare check in of the day you can be a few kms away but once you get past 5 check ins during the day the machine gets stricter on the distance.

I once got credited 50 points even though 4square said I wasn't in range, about 400 metres away at the time.

I haven't tried to check in at Holiday Inn from home yet 4kms that would be pushing the friendship a bit too far.

I've done a few km without issue, in fact, I've just done it from my office as I forgot to check-in at the HI down the road from home on my way into the office.

I've not had and Priority Club points for July at all. HHonors is posting ok.

PC is working for me as well.

BestWestern are no longer part of the program though...

I signed up today. Got points from the comfort of my home. Got a sign up bonus plus the check in bonus. Best Western still comes up in a check in search.
Wish I knew about this earlier!
Hopefully I will have enough for a points break!

If you check in every day, it generally takes a little over 3 months to earn enough for a points break.

Finding a useful, or indeed any, points break is an increasing challenge. Thanks to Bundybear I've been doing it for a few months (I can also check in from my kitchen each morning when I'm having breakfast) and am really regarding the points at a bit of a top up, similar to ER points and Qantas.

Luckily for me, Europe often has some good options!

Is it wrong I have signed my whole family for PC, Foursquare and Topguest? :p

I guess my family members could always exchange their PC points for QFF points if they don't want a points break.

There was a problem and it is fixed now... 1,000 points landed into my account!

Don't know if this has already been discussed, but ...

I emailed TopGuest with a 'missing points' query. Got a response, that only once per 24 hrs. Yes, that's fine, but I 'checked-in' online ( whilst staying at a property ) on the day of arrival, and in the early hours of the next morning.

TopGuest sent another message, stating according to their records, I first 'checked-in' at 03:40 hrs. on the day of physical check-in to hotel, and again ( second time ) at about 21:30 hrs. on the same day - hence the once per 24 hrs. policy reminder.

They also mentioned the FB time-setting. It would seem, that if using FB to 'check-in', then whatever your FB time setting is, will affect your TopGuest account.

Mine turned out to be some six hours BEHIND. Thus, when I thought it was about 03:30 hrs. the system recorded it as about 21:30 hrs. the day before.

That would make it Silicon Valley Time!

Well it seems with the change in points structure for PC that Topguest points no longer go towards your status re-qualification. had a check-in process today and my balance remaining hasn't dropped.

Only base points for stays or credit card earn now count.

As the Topguest points were the only points I earned at IHG properties last year and will likely also be this year, I don't think I'll be too affected. However, 9 days into the year I am still Platinum having earnt about 5000 points last year :)
