Re: Using Priority Pass in Sydney

We'll be flying from SYD to AKL on a Monday morning in a few weeks and have booked to stay at the Rydges Sydney Airport on the Sunday night. We'd like to use the Priority Pass card which I have from the Amex Platinum Charge card to eat at Mach2 in Terminal 1 that night. I gather from other comments in this thread that we shouldn't be asked for a boarding pass so should be right.

Has anyone been asked for a boarding pass when using the PP to eat at Mach2 in Terminal 1?

No, not even check your ID

Re: Using Priority Pass in Sydney

yeah nice did you go to Movida or the other one?

i used it at movida with 2 pax, was tempted to get some take-out snacks since the bill was only $39 but didn't bother in the end.

was pretty simple, they only asked for ID and the card, no boarding pass so no dramas.
Movida. Had a couple of nice drinks and some patatas bravas. Was very nice and a nice vibe sitting round the bar.

Most people say they don't check, but there have been a couple of isolated reports of requesting a BP.

Re: Using Priority Pass in Sydney

Can someone post a pic of Menu and prices please in all venues...

Regards

Re: Using Priority Pass in Sydney

Used at Movida in SYD on Wednesday evening. ID checked but not boarding passes.

I was there with my brother. We both have full PP membership. I asked if he could be my guest and me his guest. Ie, all up spend of $144. Told that isn't possible as only $36 per person per day. So we used mine with my brother as my guest. His ID wasn't checked. Seemed like a pretty silly approach not to accept both as they did themselves out of another $72 worth of business.

Re: Using Priority Pass in Sydney

We went to Mach2 in T1 tonight and were not asked for boarding passes so no problems even though we don't fly until tomorrow morning. We weren't even asked for ID.

Thanks to everyone who replied with your experiences in the various SYD Priority Pass "Lounges" that we could use.

Are you able to use both your passes in one visit. For example I have my partner with me who would normally be charged as a guest.

I have the unlimited Citi Prestige PP for 2. I'll be in SYD domestic in the New Year. Is there a domestic option?

Report back please :)

Finally had sufficient time to do this recently and report back.

Went to Movida for lunch ahead of a weekday flight and staff were knowledgeable about the PP offer. My BP was checked closely (not scanned), though I don't remember whether they also checked ID. PP card swiped and I ordered my free lunch.

Menu and prices differ to what's on the movida.com.au website. Minute steak was $18.50, churros with chocolate dipping sauce was $12.90, and San Pellegrino sparkling water ($6.50) ended up taking me past the $36 allowance. Note 1.25% surcharge for credit cards.

The minute steak was fairly good but the churros were disappointing. Portions weren't large (unsurprisingly), and I ate a bit more in the lounge after leaving Movida.

I have the Pp that allows 2 free visits . I have used it for more than 2 visits and never been charged .

That's good :) I initially hoped I had gotten a free(ish) lunch because it took almost a week for it to appear in my visit history.

Ah, So That's How Much Priority Pass Pays Per Restaurant Visit - One Mile at a Time in USA

I understand that I have 2 free visits per Priority Pass Year with my Citibank Signature card (fee free and that is the only reason I still keep it!). If my PP card expiry date is 22/10/18, does that mean my PP year goes from 23/10 to 22/10 the following year?

It would appear so. My current PP card and previous two cards all have the same expiry date, only the year is different.

I am wondering this also. Have the PP card via bank with 2 free visits per year. Can I use them both at once at the same place if traveling with my partner for $72?

used the card about a month ago in SYD international - can't remember if i reported back

mach2 landside - corn fritters were pretty bad, service was good, their machine was broken so they manually took details
peroni bar - didn't use as was breakfast time and their offerings were pretty rubbish, few people having drinks at 8am - good on em
burger place - not a big fan of brioche so didn't enjoy. double cheeseburger at 8am perhaps not the best idea, B&E roll was fine but wouldn't be handing over my cold hard for it.

also visited the SYD AMEX lounge which is tiny but food looked ok - small buffet spread and SQ lounge which is a solid standard option.

still don't understand why people sometimes end up in a packed lounge rather than finding empty space out in the terminal though!

I have been to Mach 2 a few times on arrival and told them that I am arriving and want to grab some rolls on the way out. Never been denied and they even let me swipe 2 guest so I can get $72 worth of takeaway food.

Currently have my PP via westpac with 2 passes / year . Plat Charge will also give me full PP . Do you need to setup another PP account under the same name or they just update your current PP account ?

I had the full PP with the Charge and then applied for the 2 passes/year with the Reserve card. I got a second PP account, so I'd expect yours to be similar.

My recent experience flying out at T3 SYD Domestic using PP at Bar Roma and Wok on Air . Both of them checked my BP before let me order .

I concur with Billt

Breakfast twice in the last month at Bar Roma and asked to produce my BP both times.

Also there is one restaurant that accepts PP landside at Sydney Int Airport. Certainly cant show your boarding pass there.
