Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi

Permanent Status Rating? I don't believe it exists and if it does exist then I don't think it has a major part to play.

Anyway it is surprising that my PSR is that high compared to other AFFers. I have been a QFF member for 8 years, the last 4 years as a Platinum, and have a PSR of ~1,028.

I am not sure how else QF would decide to recomp SG for a member sitting on 120 SC for a year without asking what their plans were? The fact it was mentioned by a QF staffer would suggest there is some sort of measurement of lifetime/long term value for each member to QF, and it makes sense, we all have bad years from that perspective, even if its for good reasons like bringing a new child into the world and being grounded by SWMBO for six months :D

I'm quite impressed with my PSR of 254 over 9 years considering I've only had four paid QF/oneworld flights in the last four years.

And I prefer a calculator to a spreadsheet for a lot of things. :)

Have we started believing everything mentioned by QF staffers on the phone? ;)

I don't know for a fact whether Permanent status rating exists or not but if it only exists for comping status then it is uselss to someone like me. Theoretically you will only get comped once anyway.

Next question/query. What would constitute a high PSR and what sort of benefits would one expect? Op-ups? Change of flights on cheapest red e-deals. Anytime lounge access? As far as I am aware status plays little part in op-ups, almost anyone can change flights if the person processing the request is having a good day and only Chairmans Lounge have anytime access.

Is there anything else a high PSR can get me over and above other Platinums?

Your missing the point of this thread and the one referenced in the first post, specifically its not about extra benefits when you are at the top, its about your average elite status over time and how that affects your requal promotions/comps. If your Plat and requalified for the year, in the context of this discussion your PSR means nothing, other than the fact you have probably raised its level as a result of your activity.

I have totally missed the point of the thread.

All this thread seems to be doing is speculating on what may or may not be used to consider in comping of status. May come in useful once in a blue moon.

No different to speculating on what criteria is used to determine who receives and who does not receive promotions.

The point of the thread was what someone was told by a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre, so you’d hope they weren’t just lying to all of us whenever we phoned and the information could be at least partially on the money.

Sam, I may be a cynic and a sceptic but I stopped believing what I have been told by QF service centre staff especially when they conflict on another on phone calls 10-15 minutes apart. I went through hell trying to change/cancel my flights after I got very sick in September last year and could not travel.

Now please don't take it the wrong way and I am not disputing what the person has posted on AFF. I am simply questioning what one QF staffer has sad on PSR and their understanding of it's application in real life. The rest is just pure speculation on our part.

It would not be the first time that the QF service centre has quoted incorrect, and sometimes misleading, information.

JohnK,

We agree at last. ;)
Surely have agreed at least once in the past! :p

Where can I find a calculator for the psr?

Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi

Has anyone considered the fact that it only applies to new bookings means that the offer is intended to generate new revenue for QF, rather than recognising status?

I have lots of DOM trips this month, but I'm not going to cancel and rebook as I just re-qualified for WP, and have no intention of aiming for PG as my partner is SG of his own accord. Of course if I had J or F INTL bookings, and needed the SCs, I probably would.

I highly doubt any QF phone reps would be aware of how the marketing/loyalty department decided on the selection criteria. Indeed, it's probably as secretive as the selection criteria for AIR, or who gets comped status.

Where can I find a calculator for the psr?

It was explained how to calculate this number in the first few posts (or at least I recall it was in one thread), but it’s not hard to work out how people are calculating things… there isn’t a special site you need to go to…

Has anyone considered the fact that it only applies to new bookings means that the offer is intended to generate new revenue for QF, rather than recognising status?

Why do you think the rational frequent flyer members here would have considered that? :p

Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi

I have only been doing the SC gravy train for just over 18 months really so I see no point in doing a PSR. Although in that 18 months I'm just about to hit WP :-)

Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi

Where can I find a calculator for the psr?

Lifetime Status Credits as indicated on the QF website divided by number of years a member. In my case 12826 / 14 = 916.

Hey TuppaWare,

Any chance of a BlackBerry version of your SC calculator? Maybe add in the PSR calc?

Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi

I joined in early 2006, and now have just over 12,000 SCs. So my PSR is around 2400.

The last 2 years haven't flown as much as before, but still made WP+SG. This coming year might struggle to get to WP though...
