Re: First time through the frosted black doors

Nah, I'd never ask, I think that is most impolite, and secondly I would be the most out of place person you would ever see in the CL. When QF was drawing up their list of types they don't want in the CL lounge they used my name!! (I make the F lounge look messy just by walking into it!!!)

Does that hurt? :confused::D

Slightly on topic: I generally have some type of tag. As others have said in case it needs to be checked in.

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

LOL @ everyone who has Q tags on their carry on.

LOL @ everyone who uses Q tags for anything except drink coasters.

LOL @ QF for sending me a set.

LOL @ thinking I will check myself in.

LOL

:P

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

Sorry...should have done the sticky out tongue thingy. I was being facetious. the original WP Q Tags were so so similar apart from the red QF triangle.

Yes they were! I have those, is it unreasonable to ask for new ones? A bit silly I know but more than one colleague has remarked they can't believe I am PS. Not a big deal in the scheme of things but it has annoyed me

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

As I posted last year:Aside from that, I get 2 x 7kg on Qantas domestic Jet flights - why would I bother checking rollaboards - that's more than I take ATW.

!!!
I don't know how you do it on a long haul flight packing so light...

I hear why P1 does not have different bag tags (since it is apparently still platinum), but I think there is a case here for taking the platinum tags and enlarging them, say, to the size of an LP record, for P1 carry-ons.

I've had my own set made, I did make them a much darker shade of grey. The great thing is they can substitute for a drinks tray in the lounge. :p

Have them on my overnight roller bag given that I'll often be asked to freight additional laptops and/or other network equipment on board.

Disagree. I love the next gen checkin. I've used the tags a few times and its easy as.
enhancement or not I love NGCI, makes the whole process of checking in so much faster and quicker

Flying from PER on the red-eye or early morning used to mean getting there at least 90 minutes before, sometimes 2 hours before departure. Now I just rock up with 45 minutes to departure no matter what time of the day I fly

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

plain old SG tag on my carry on, just an ID more than anything, in fact i have some QP ones i should use instead

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

Have only used my RFID tag once since they were introduced. Normally only travel with a bag internationally.

I still have my old plastic WP tags on my hand luggage however. I like to think you can tell 'new' status from 'old' status by the tag type.

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

I have a SG set as well as the WP set, so if I was fashion conscious I guess I could coordinate it with luggage or something like that.

I've only used it once in BNE at the insistence of the check-in 'hoverer', saying everything would be alright. Well got to ADL, no bag. It eventually caught up to me when I got home in MEL. So they are only useful as drink coasters for me.

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

I've seen the BNE check-in Q dragon try & direct an elderly lady towards the NGCI....The lady, was quite clear that she had no intention of using anything but a real person:cool:

The agent then set her sights on me & wanted to see my credentials for daring to line up in the J/OWE Q. Very efficient dragons at BNE.

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

So what about those who walk into work with their Q tag attached to their backpack ? No flying involved. Surely that's wanker behavior ?

Oh i see it on the train on the way to work! i just smile to myself!

I attached one to my checked in bag not long after they were issued, just to see how durable they were. After arriving at the final destination (can't remember exactly now, but it was somewhere OS) the tag was substantially worn.

As pretty well all of my travel is OS I don't bother with them, but it is amazing to see at so many OS airports how many people have them attached to their carry-on, particularly ones that will never be checked in.

And they don't even use them as coasters......

I saw a member of staff at Uni walk in to the offices with a backpack with an SG Q tag

Had to look three times, couldn't believe it...

In any case I'm looking forward to receiving mine in July or August. Novelty item, something new.

That is, if QF doesn't "enhance" the silver qualification pack :D

Re: First time through the frosted black doors

I'm sorry but "just a way of identifying my bag" doesn't cut it when almost every bag going around the carousel has a Q tag on it. Simply, Q tags are for Dom checked in luggage. If you are doing something else, put it away, otherwise it brands you as a DYKWIA (IMHO)
