Q Bag Tag - do you Carry on?

I suspect I fall into the latter camp! :p

Ok, I have succumbed to peer pressure and put my brand new WP coaster on my carryon for today's trip to MEL :oops:
I was WP when the tags were introduced and my previous set were the PS looking light grey version.
After a tip off from munitalP I called QF for a new set and they arrived yesterday.
Now joined the DYKWIA gang ;)

Now if you want a promotion to elite DYKWIA you need that black felt tip pen! :p

Sorry - I still use Golden Wing Tags - In Memory !

I did have a couple of "Black Amex " tags a few years ago - First time I used them they both got stolen !

Few weeks ago I spotted one on a briefcase - carried by a person queuing to board a tram. Being a jovial chap I asked if this was the priority boarding lane (with a smile), but was ignored. :(

I have my WP tag on my rollerboard but only because I regularly have to check it in on QLink flights... no really.;)
Perhaps I should but my spare PS tag on the backpack and fly under the radar.

Maybe I'm taking the thread a bit seriously :oops: but I don't see the DYKWIA / poseur issue of bag tags on carry-on (or wheelie ones at least). I note its an 'issue' on the Air Canada thread at FT as well. My wheelie sports the QF tag, as well as Air Canada SE100K and Velocity Gold tags

* On a domestic business trip, my wheelie is likely as not to be stuffed full of newly acquired paperwork, or books I have bought in the Big Smoke, so I'll check it for the return journey rather than lug it (which also means the pressure is off to board early to snag an overhead bin);

* On an international trip, I'll want it on board for the long hops, but will check it for the domestic legs (ditto); and on Nth American domestics, there is also the chance of it being forcibly checked at the gate;

* Maybe stretching the raison d'etre (sorry TonyHancock) here ... but if I have the carry-on on board but have to scoot and get out of the plane fast, it will be re-assuring to know that if its not incinerated, there is a chance it will come back to me.

I put my second one inside my carry-on or roll-aboard then flick it outside if I want or need to check it. YDYKWIAMMV :D.

I sometimes put my PS tag on my carry-on, pretending like a DYKWIA-wanna-be, and liberally use the PB lanes, F lounge, F check-in, etc. I also dress casually like a college student. You know, just to see the weird WDYTYA look (who-do-you-think-you-are) from the other DYKWIAs or staff.

You need a Bronze/QP tag to really gain their scornful looks ;)

But now you look sooooo new as a WP ;):p:mrgreen:.

My Q tags are still in the little folder they arrived in.

On board I use my AFF tag.

Is this thread actually for real?!?!?!? Some people need to 'check themselves'...
seriously...WHO CARES!
I have mine on because Qantas send them to me, they look nice, I have my contact details on them if I loose my bag, I'm proud of making WP (or whatever status I am at the time), and maybe a few other reasons....plus I often cant be f*&ked carrying my bag all around the airport sometimes and I just want it checked-in... especially those times when copious amount of scotch are to be drunk in the lounge and I might just leave the bag behind :p

Well said.

If you wonder who cares, you may not understand the complete obsession many of us have with every single aspect of flying.

I put mine on excitedly when I first became WP and haven't taken it off. Nowadays I get a jolt to the system to stay excited and not take the WP privileges for granted just from looking at it. The DYKWIA judgments are more amusing to me than a genuine concern.
