They used to be available from the Qantas Store, but no longer can be found there. They are sent to passengers as you reach each new status level, and are coloured to match each level. As I have been WP for four years, I really don’t know if Q-tags are still sent on attaining a new status level.

I asked Qantas last month for a free Q Bag Tag (attaining the silver level in 2020 but didn't get anything due to COVID). Got the tag and membership card after 3 weeks.
Yep, new tag arrived in the mail when I got to gold about 2 months ago. Now just waiting on the platinum one

On re-reading the dates of various posts I see the thread shifted from whether or not they work to where to get them. But I do believe the OP (and even the resurrection of the thread earlier this year) where both referring to whether or not they worked.

Yeah something has definitely gone wrong there. I attained Gold in Feb 2020, right before COVID blew up, and I got my tags and a new card back then as it was before they paused sending them out. As mentioned above, you'll need to call to request a tag and card. They only send one tag out on attainment now, it was two prior to COVID.Data point - I received Gold status in Jan 2020 and still haven't received a Q tag (or physical gold card)
I've tried 3-4 times over the past 18 months but each occasion was told it was on pause due to covid. Will try again.
A sneaky way to get a card (and maybe a Q tag) is to activate QF money feature on the card (if it isn’t already activated). They have to send you a new physical card to be able to use it!
These tags sound like potentially creating problems when travelling. I have only ever used mine as drinks coasters.
I’ve used my Q-tags on numerous domestic flights, intrastate and interstate and with connecting flights. I have never lost a bag or had one delayed. The Q-tags have worked as they should over the last 8 years at least, including 10 domestic flights this year. (As long as you don’t have a second Q-tag inside your suitcase, but I’ve learned my lesson.)
I am so glad I'm not the only one who learnt this the hard way.
I knew that there would be someone who hadn’t experienced any issues.
