Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

yes I was about to post that info to correct myself. That's nice to see! :)

(and yes I feel like a dill for the earlier opinion expressed! :D )

But La Gaia Unedited is a beauty brand for women; taken directly from their website: LaGaia Unedited has been specifically designed for women who want to restore mind, body and soul with a sophisticated and focussed beauty regime.

I'm all for having male and female options, but if you are only going to have one kit then I feel it shouldn't be gender specific, rather gender netural and cater to all passengers?

Executive Traveller has some pictures/videos of the refurbed A380 on their Instagram story. One shot has Allan Joyce and David Caon looking at a business suite. Guessing there was no technical issue it couldn't operate QF1 today, just an opportunity to bring in the media.

The first class tablet looks exactly the same to me though, in fact the IFE screen in F doesn't look much different either. How much bigger is the IFE supposed to be?

Instagram (Note stories expire after 24 hours, will be gone around 3PM AEST, 3 Oct 2019).

As the various release and stories have eluded- in F the screen remains the same size with improved screen resolution (and some upgraded behind the scenes electronics)

Yes, likely a change from ex2 headend to ex3 similar to the A330's. The increased resolution at seat is definitely a plus too.
I do recall reading 'larger' screen for F as well though. It's certainly still in Qantas' original press release and PDF.

Each suite will be fully refurbished, including contoured cushioning and a larger, higher resolution entertainment screen.

FIRST CLASS

Larger high-definition IFE screens

Looking at some info it went from 17 to 18, so I imagine the bezel is smaller, but the screen fits within the same space as well as being HD.

First screen is from 17" HD to 18" FHD.
The clunkyish seat control hasn't changed.

If you look really closely at the photos there are some decent material changes.
Everything goes from beige and fawn,
To more of a white and black, including black edging on most of the monuments.
Seat headrest also goes leather

Qantas Instagram story also has lots of video.

Was reported on airliners.net that they had some IFE issues on the incoming flight and wanted to give engineering some time to fix it

The Daily Mail has a more informative set of photos than that of the mainstream travel reporting outfits (Fairfax, The Australian, Executive Traveller, etc), which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the state of journalism in this country.

The photos here are much more informative! The text though, is typical Daily Mail. They talk about "mid-flight facials and hot stone massages" which makes it sound like they will have someone on board to do spa treatments. I'm assuming they must mean pre-flight!

Perhaps the facial and hot stone massage is an indication of what services will be offered in the Singapore First Lounge as it would be considered Mid Flight surely?

It appears the reporter has combined the in-flight and lounge services in a way that is apt to mislead.

Later on the reporter clarifies that the facials and massages are offered in the lounge, not on board:

The lounges in Sydney will offer facials and hot stone massages, while customers will be treated to specially formulated sprays, moisturisers and signature scrubs for the duration of their flight.

Yes, from what I've read about the Singapore lounge, it will have showers and a restaurant, but no spa.

A side note to this, does anyone else think the new amenity kits and slippers look very cheap? (I would say the pyjamas too, but they haven't been shown yet). Even compared with new ones from lower tier airlines like British Airways, these look like $2 throw away items.

I realise that the branded kit thing is a bit of a gimmick, but the bag they have chosen looks like someone knocked off something from Country Road. Not very first class!

Yes, it’s broken and has been subbed.
A friend texted me this morning. No real loss for me as I’m in F but if I was in J I’d be pretty sad 😞

Broken, or we want to put it in hanger 96 and parade the QF execs through it and make some instagram stories? 😉😂
