Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

With so many extra PE seats in the new config, will QF hold back selling the extra seats given issues of scheduling, and rely on on-departure upgrades? All those who have to tick the PE option when asking for a J upgrade including at the gate, may be in for a rash of PE rather than J upgrades in the coming year. They couldn't/wouldn't (surely) downgrade all those PE pax if a new bird goes pear-shaped. Or perhaps there will be a rash of Op-Ups for FFs over the next year when one of the upgraded planes appears?

Broken, or we want to put it in hanger 96 and parade the QF execs

Event was all over by about 1pm so would have been time to get it over for QF1.
Was reported on airliners.net that there were some IFE issues on the first flight, so they wanted to get engineering to look at it

Total seats on the plane is almost identical.
-30 Y
+25 PE
+6 J
So id think they'd have to sell to the old config, and there will be a lot of points upgrades/ opups until the fleet is done.

Looks good to go on QF1 today.

Now a 1 in 10 chance of getting OQK (or seemingly higher on SYD routes).

As OQJ has flown to AUH for maintenance, and OQL still in DRS.

So has QF stopped using Lufthansa technik in Manila? Or they just use them for the less intensive checks? If they stopped using Lufthansa, I would expect the workshop would have lost a big reason for being there.

IIRC BA is also a customer. Also saw other aircraft (non A380) there too.

Confirmed it's a TV screen. In the previous version opposite the red couch there was a normal style IFE remote next to the TV - haven't noticed one on photos of OQK - there are audio ports under the tables.

On one night flight i watched an entire movie on the couch rather than in the seat (much bigger screen)
