Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Not sure if you are on SYD-LAX QF11 or MEL-LAX QF93, but if your flight gets cancelled/swapped and you don't want to waste a day, I would push to be changed to the other flight to still get F. If you have status it would help, pending availability.
We are QF11. Yes, my husband is P1 so if they ring I will warn him to do that, or to ask to go the previous day (if we get enough notice)

hello, which website can you see what aircraft is scheduled for which flight? I am flying out on QF35 in F Sunday - trying to see which A/C is going to be servicing the flight.

Do seat selection and look for economy rows greater than 80 to indicate an A380 and if none less than row 48 in economy then it's the refurb. If there is no row 80, you have an A330.

I just looked on ExpertFlyer and it is currently a non-refurbed A380.

The other way to tell is to look at the Business cabin. If it starts at Row 11 then its an A380 (1-2-1 is New, 2-2-2 is Old) and Row 1 for A330

hoping someone will give away a lounge pass or guest me in so doesn't make much difference to me :(

If you need a pass I got you, just flick me a message. Luckily I've still got one in the bank after making Gold.

I'm still constantly checking my QF8 flight in Feb to see if there's any changes. I think it's still too far away and if it's going to change it won't be until the next refurb bird is out in the wild, but fingers crossed!

We seem to have the refurbed bird on QF12 in mid-Dec. We were in Y+ with seats 28 DEF. We were re-assigned to 33 DEF.

And now it's back to a non-refurbed bird. I can't log in to the booking to see seats on the Qantas website. The app is showing for me "25J . 33E . 26E . 33E and more".

I might actually have to call QF about it!! As the app and website don't seem to let me even see what seats we have assigned for this flight.

Repeating a post from the Qantas Delays Thread

From a post earlier by milehighclub, OQJ (Abu Dhabi) and OQH (Dresden) are due back on 7-Dec and 10-Dec respectively.
That's 8.5wks for the major maintenance check and 7 weeks for the refurb.

Should mean QF has a full complement for the busy Summer Holiday travel season.

According to a refurb schedule filed on QF's intranet, both birds have actually been being refurbed. I was lead to believe that the refurbishments were only done in DRS, but apparently AUH can do them also? At least that's what this QF doc suggests. Would make sense though, as the PR did suggest three refurbed a/c by the end of 2019.

I wish they would slow down so I can have a better chance of getting my "mini-economy" upstairs seats on me QF1/QF2 flights in late February/early March!

I'm on an A380 from LHR to SIN on the 29th of January in Business.

I've been monitoring my seat selection to see if i'm on a refurbed bird (also currently have a bid in for First) but for over a week now I keep getting the "Individual seat selection isn't available for this flight" message.

On the previous screen it's still saying 18A and 18B (my original seat selection....)

Any idea what's up?

It's not a refurbished aircraft. What is your status with QF? You most likely can't select a seat because all seats at the back of the cabin are already selected.

I'm a sad Bronze at the moment. Until I get back from this trip and I hop skip and jump up to Gold.

Thanks for the update - i'll stop checking the seats I guess haha :)

Hmm. This happens on QF11/12 because the system can't handle different aircraft types on multi-segment flights. Is that a possibility that one segment of QF2 on those dates has a different aircraft seat map - maybe a refurbished and non-refurbished plane, for example ?
