Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

I’ve be booked Economy MLB to LAX return on QF 93 and 94 respectively for October 2020.
When selecting seats it is still showing the upper deck rear section with Economy seats, which I chose (and paid for).
BUT people are saying I will be moved as the planes have been reconfigured - does anyone know what happens in this case, will I be shafted into the dreaded middle seat downstairs ?

Welcome to AFF @HGills .

I can't help you with your question, sorry, but have a look here and it might give some background and past experience

Has anyone flown in Y on the reconfigured planes? Is the only change to the seat fabrics and the IFE systems? So still missing out on the 787 Y seats?

I think the software update has made the screens a bit more responsive somehow. Could be wrong though, haven't flown on the refurb aircraft.
It seemed about the same when I flew a few weeks ago. You do have to hold your finger on the icon/button for a good second before it reacts. You don't have to press as such - as I showed the person sitting behind me so they didn't keep thumping my headrest.

Now one spare 380 in the timetable with the ceasing of seasonal QF17/18. Second spare from 13-Feb when QF127/128 reverts to 744/789.

So would expect aircraft flying to DRS/AUH fairly soon.

That's why I've always thought touch screens on economy seats are a bad idea -- nothing worse than getting a thump, thump, thump right where your head is resting. And as the screens get older/damaged, they become less responsive, precipitating even harder pushes from the person behind you.

Because it is infinitely more convenient to use the touch screen than the remote in Y. Why do you think they made it a touch screen if not to be used?

Hmmm... another chicken or egg scenario? Why make the remote if it cannot be used?

I too don't understand why people use touch screens in economy... it actually uses more effort no? You have to raise your arms up to reach the screen. With the controller it sits in your hands in your lap and you have instant volume, pause/play and channel control (no having to 'swipe' to get the controls to appear on screen).

Well for those of us who are lucky enough to have an exit row seat, that remote is jammed down by your hip...

I do know it is subject to change, however does anyone have access to information about the scheduled aircraft (refurb or non-refurb) for QF1 SYD-LHR on 1 Feb 2020? Thanks!
Looks like it's usually the same plane going all the way to London..

Looks like it's scheduled as a refurb at the moment. 1-2-1 seat map in ExpertFlyer.

Argh. We fly tonight on QF2 from London to Singapore in business... we’ve gone from the old config side by side, to the new config separated (to which we adjusted to single seats one behind the other) This was still the case last night when we checked in, but now on the App it’s the old style and we’re separated?! Both on the aisles next to single people sitting next to window.
Why wouldn’t they put those two singles together and keep double bookings side by side? Especially back to our original seats.
Not looming forward to sitting next to randoms who will be stepping over us sleeping to use the loo 😖😞
