Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Argh. We fly tonight on QF2 from London to Singapore in business... we’ve gone from the old config side by side, to the new config separated (to which we adjusted to single seats one behind the other) This was still the case last night when we checked in, but now on the App it’s the old style and we’re separated?! Both on the aisles next to single people sitting next to window.
Why wouldn’t they put those two singles together and keep double bookings side by side? Especially back to our original seats.
Not looming forward to sitting next to randoms who will be stepping over us sleeping to use the loo 😖😞

When a swap from old to new config occurs, anyone in a B or J seat will be kicked out. Therefore it's a bad idea to select a B or J seat at the moment. A/E/F/K are kept as-is.

When a swap from new to old config occurs, anyone in rows 14 and parts of 15 will be kicked out. If it's a new config it's a bad idea to select anything row 14 or 15. Similarly it's a bad idea to select one in front of the other on the side in a A or K seat, as you will end up next to strangers if swapped back to an old config.

Thank you. Making a note of this in case I make a booking before the refurbs are all complete.

Per flyerqf on airliners.
VH-OQG departs SYD tonight as QF6027 to SIN and then onto DRS.

So odds increase to 3 of 11 or 27%

Best way to not have to worry about seating issues regarding potential swaps is to book F!
As much as I like F it’s too expensive for my budget. Whilst nice it’s not worth twice the price of J to me.

I’ve be booked Economy MLB to LAX return on QF 93 and 94 respectively for October 2020.
When selecting seats it is still showing the upper deck rear section with Economy seats, which I chose (and paid for).
BUT people are saying I will be moved as the planes have been reconfigured - does anyone know what happens in this case, will I be shafted into the dreaded middle seat downstairs ?
Welcome to AFF, @HGills the chances are high that you would be flying in the newly configured aircraft in October.

I would not preselect upper deck economy seating, preferring to look for best options on the lower deck and in the days before the flights pay keeping a close eye on things.

I'm on QF11 on Monday, my PE seat assignment is still showing as the old number and I don't appear on the seat map in my booking, my seat number is now in J.

There's plenty of seats in PE, so I might wait and see what happens on Monday at check-in.

With QF127/128 ceasing to be an A380 on Wednesday, we should see another frame going off to be refurbished in the next week.

Even before it gets back, with the available fleet down to 10 as VH-OQG has already gone to Dresden, this further increases the odds of getting a refurbished aircraft. I am doing MEL-SIN in 3 weeks in J and fingers crossed I get a refurbished one.

On my MEL-SIN I missed out on a refurb by one day, hahaha.

Amazed they don’t find a way to run a revenue to LHR then ferry from there. Expensive ferry from SIN!

It didn’t fly in revenue service to SIN either and the only way to fly in revenue is to fly as QF1 and can the return QF2.

Now if what they did last time is any indication when the next change over is due the inbound plane will fly as QF1 then to Dresden whilst the other will fly Dresden to LHR the operate QF2. But that only works of there is an aircraft already in Dresden ready to go.

my question though the two that are there are they both getting cabin refresh or is one of them in for maintenance?
