Hoping for a last minute refurb aircraft change or op-up lotto puts me on first class hahah.

I’m also open to an op-up on the refurb A380 if Qantas is listening here :)

I flew to HKG over the christmas period, initially had 35K selected for both legs - paid for with cash.
SYD-HKG leg was changed to a refurbed plane and they automatically changed my seat to another exit row, 66.
HKG-SYD was unrefurbed but my seat selection was also not changed.

The seat itself was pretty similar, upholstery changed to match the new colours. IFE worked slightly better on the refurbed plane but the monitors themselves were not replaced and so it's nowhere near as good as the new planes or other refurbed ones.

Hoping QF35/36 are not flying as refurb in May as we are flying on el-cheapo flights to SIN and have upper deck Y 32A/B

I'm flying on QF93 on Saturday, currently unable to see the seat map on the Qantas website.

"Individual seat selection isn't available for this flight."

Fingers crossed for a change to a refurb!

I haven't been able to see my own seats with that error
I have an comfort seat booked

Knowing that some refurbs are already in service. When are they allocated to a route ?
Just wondering when seat alerts would have updated information

Both my legs were the old config until about 72hrs before the flights. Expert flyer showed the new config seat maps before the Qantas website had reallocated my seats.

Honestly in my view given the reliability issues with the QF A380 fleet, delays etc I think you can't rely too much on schedules for aircraft at times because we often see swaps made, or a long delay in an inbound causing another a/c to be used for a service it was not scheduled for, and so on.. until the majority of the fleet is upgraded it's going to be a bit of a nightmare IMO.

I guess if it were me I'd take what the a/c config is supposed to be as a guide but not expect it as locked in until I see the a/c at my gate.

IMO

Surely a bit uncertainty not knowing or a bit of a lottery outcome, but "nightmare" - really?

Fair call. I was actually thinking more of a logistical issue more than a pax one, but I think if one was counting on the new J suite over the droop bed/2-2-2 then it may well be a nightmare if a last minute sub due to expectations.. and of course the whole Y seat/upper deck reallocation thing...

So how about "disappointment"

Not aware of any Premium Economy seat that doesn't have a fixed divider.
In general it's due to the increase pitch meaning you have to have a side mounted table....

A major disincentive to consider W class (PE.)

For me it's either J or whY.

Occasionally in whY I've had four middle seats to myself down the back on various airlines. Better than PE if one is lucky enough.

My QF35 plane ended up been the old droop J seats. My first time on these seats and have tried the newer seats in the 787.

I did like the spacious foot room and the general around roominess of the setup. The IFE was obviously last gen touch screen but manageable with the remote. Also getting the seat in the perfect position for lounging was allot easier than the 787 seat as it seemed more adjustable.

However during turbulence the whole seat shakes like crazy because the feet area is so loosely connected.

I will not miss these seats as the new seats is a better all round package.

Cant wait for the A380s to be all refurbished. It will then be my favourite Qantas plane.

I find that my carry-on fits perfectly under this seat and prevents droop/shaking.

According to other reports, QF is now preventing shoes being taken off and left at the bulkhead during flight. So I wonder if they're going to continue allowing bags being left under seats as you describe :(
