Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

My Qantas business class flight was switched from a refurbished A380 (had been like this for several months - booked in Feb) to a model that hasn't been refurbished (can't confirm which one, only noticed when I checked and saw the 2-2-2 config). The flight is not until late October 2023. Is this a potential error and will it be changed back? My understanding was the A380s would be refurbished before being placed back into service?
I would assume then your heading to LA on a Saturday? Seems to be on the QF11 & 12 each Saturday from now.

Might be a silly question, but how long does it take to refurbish the A380?
Before the pandemic, the first cabin refurbishments in Dresden took about 2 months.
Aircraft going into pandemic storage complicated things.
More recently the refurbishments are in Abu Dhabi.
FR24 shows A380s flew initially from Victorville to the QF maintenance facility at LAX and spent about a month there prior to flying to Abu Dhabi.
Time in AUH seems to be inconsistent.
VH-OQI was there for over 4 mnths
VH-OQL for only 7 weeks
VH-OQA appears to have arrived AUH mid November last year and is still there.

Are you sure that it's the cabin refurbs that are being done in Abu Dhabi? That's where the heavy maintenance was done, the cabin was a separate company...the one that originally did the cabins for AB, I think.

The times you mention are consistent with various heavy checks, as well as the cracking repairs that had to be done. As for Nancy...sadly the dear leader should have retired her, and kept E and F.

TBH - I am not sure but was going on flight history given none appear to have gone to Dresden more recently.
I did read some time back that cabin refurbishments were possible at both Dresden and AUH, so maybe jumped to a conclusion.
Happy to be educated.

Hi all,
i have just booked my parents to QF82 SIN-SYD. On the current booking on 3 Sep, it is an old a380 bird. What is the probability that they will change to an A330 or a refurbished A380?
TIA

I have an upcoming flight on the old layout. Can someone remind me if the bulkhead rows in business have enough extra legroom to get in and out of the window seat without having to do the leap over the aisle passengers legs?

Flying QF11 on the 16th in J. Was surprised to see an old seatmap. I thought all refresh work had either been completed or was in progress for the final aircraft?

There’s one un-refurbished bird doing HKG and occasional LAX… 😔

So I think this gives Qantas 7 active 380s (including the unrefurbed OQL), with OQA, OQC and OQJ in AUH.
Hasn't changed since July.

Beginning to think that OQL might continue to fly unrefurbed until next year given QF generally tries not to have aircraft in for maintenance over the summer holidays.

Being that I am on the occasional route aka QF11 and 12 , how quickly is the seat layout updated prior to departure?
Just one data point for you, I've avoided VH-OQL twice booking two months in advance and checking EF at the time of booking. (On both occasions, I could see VH-OQL was servicing that route 2 days after and that turned out to be true both times. RE QF11).
