Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Will all the a380 in service eventually get refurbished?
That’s the question I’ve been asking myself too. That -L registration one with the old config, seems to me as if they keep it as is on purpose. Which makes half way sense for shorter routes but definitely not for LA.

There's still two in Abu Dhabi for maintenance or whatever it is they're doing. One presumes OQL won't be going anywhere until one/both of those are back in service.

Also remember OQJ (which has been already refurbished) is having its major check done in AUH currently so there is a total of 3 in AUH currently.

Looks like QF like using the old configuration to LAX - should have checked expert flyer when I booked my ticket but grabbed it in the recent sale --I had the old one in June and now can see both ways LAX-SYD and SYD -LAX in October-certainly on my dates

If I booked business on that route and got the old A380 2-2-2 config, I'd be spewing and demanding for some points back.

It's highly inferior to the 1-2-1 layout and thus should be refunded as such.

Same goes for if Emirates downgraded their A380 service to a 777 service with the (even worse) 2-3-2 business layout.

I honestly don't know how they're still running long haul business class with anything other than a 1-2-1 layout.

Any recent updates here guys?

I’m booked on QF 11 on the 21st of this month and it looks like VH-OQL has been allocated to that day…?

Booked in PE with a points upgrade to J requested. Not super impressed if I get the J upgrade and it’s the old configuration… nor will I be impressive. I’m in my actual PE, but it’s the older style.

Will others come back into the rotation in the next two weeks?

My Qantas business class flight was switched from a refurbished A380 (had been like this for several months - booked in Feb) to a model that hasn't been refurbished (can't confirm which one, only noticed when I checked and saw the 2-2-2 config). The flight is not until late October 2023. Is this a potential error and will it be changed back? My understanding was the A380s would be refurbished before being placed back into service?
I have QF12 in Aug and its definitely the refurbished A380 - i'll be annoyed if it changes; as would have otherwise taken QF8 as the Dreamliner has no old seats.
QF 12 (A380) on 26 August 2023 LAX - SYD business class had the old seats in the 2-2-2 configuration. I was not a happy camper.

Can anyone help with the tail number for QF11 this coming Saturday..?
sending my condolences...

Actually thank you as well - You just prompted me to check mine in Nov and I have also been bamboozled onto the old plane. Ringing up now to see what I can do about it...

November is a long way away, every chance of a tail swap between now and then. 787/330 is of course the only way to avoid the old bird(s)
