How about 79J?
What is on the right side of it?

Don't forget 79J is an exit row so unless you are WP1, CL or just lucky at check-in then you'd have to consider if the cost for pre-selecting it is worth it to you...

I'm traveling to the US from Melbourne on the A380 in a few days. Currently have seat 36K, does anyone have any recommendations about this seat or sat there previously?

Or should I look downstairs for some seating? I'm only 5'2 so legroom isn't a major factor!

Apart from perhaps being blocked-in if travelling alone, all the reports so far have been that these are quite good seats. A good photo here (the back row in the second picture):

Apparently full recline etc so no problem with bulkhead.

This is quite a good seat, I would keep it. The upstairs Y cabin is a kind of nice mini-cabin and fairly spacious. Also with 36K the seat next to it is an aisle, not a middle seat, so that's one less person to have to squeeze past to get out!

thanks, I really appreciate the information!

I've been checking the seating map prior to the flight tomorrow and a couple of seats have opened up in rows 32 and 33 in the upper deck? Is this usually the case? As my flight back QF 94 LAX to MEL on 30/8 has all of the upper deck "booked" as of right now.

Either the people who were booked in those seats have cancelled or more likely - they open the remaining seats for selection. 32 and 33 would not have been available depending on your status but once they have been given a crack at them, they will open those seats up (they won't open bulkheads or exit rows).

.....or perhaps the pax originally seated there have benefitted from the QF improved upgrade experience?

hi all.. does anyone know what row 34d-g seating is like? our upcoming SYD-LAX flights only have this group of seats available on the upper deck (gold ff so have access to all econ options as far as i know)

i'm just wondering if there's an issue with reclining or something as it seemed a bit odd both flights only had these available.

thanks!

thanks awesome! will do :) quite excited they have an upper deck econ option now, will be much nicer being in a smaller cabin

Dr FM had upper deck economy last month on a trip to London and she said it was so much nicer being in the mini cabin.

Upper deck is SOOO much nicer than downstairs (Rows 1-5 excluded).
Heaven forbid if I have to fly "Y" on the A380, upstairs wins all the time. 80A comes close though.

Ok guys, I've got a choice of 33AB or 33JK on upper deck Y QF A380, for myself and +1.
Its pretty full there except these 2 pairs of seats, which would you choose and any benefits of one or the other?

Thanks!!

I'd take the pick of 33J and K - it's further from the galley/lavatory.

I agree with J&K, because of the lavatory.
Must admit though, for some strange reason I usually go for an A seat whichever row it is:confused:. In this case, definately J&K.

I sat in 33K on my first trip in the upper deck A380 and I would consider it to be one of the top seats in that cabin. the bulkhead in row 32 would not provide enough leg room for me. The side storage bin is very useful and surprisingly spacious.

I just travelled on the upper deck in 32A LAX - SYD. Was absolutely superb. The service was very personal and pleasant. The side bins for extra storage was great. And even though the bulkhead was directly in front, there's still plenty of legroom. I ended up resting my feet on top of the side bin and slept like a log. It's also great as there's only two seats on the side versus there being three downstairs. I'd recommend it to anyone who has the option

Awesome, I've got those seats later this year (the pair that is).
