Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

What is this activation bonus? I cannot seem to find any info on it.. only the 2,500 bonus points for Qantas products.

Mrs 2tall4Y also received the 5,000 points 'Card Activation Bonus' upon her first spend, and I'm also confused as the terms & conditions only refer to 80,000 points after $3,000 spend within three months of activation.

Shhhhh.....

Also, Mrs Excel's has finally arrived. I'm really not a fan of Amex's referral-then-no-emails-but-grants-card process.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Which option do you think is the better value for the Premium Card.

Obviously currently, the offer is 80,000 Qantas points when you spend $3000 in 3months
plus 2,500 bonus points on your first Qantas spend.

Or is it better to go one of the member referral options, which gives the following.
42,500 points when you spend $500 in 3 months
5,000 points for your first spend on the card
plus 2,500 bonus points on your first Qantas spend = 50,000 (if you buy a Qantas product)

Thanks

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

80,000 is more than 50,000, so with the same annual fees the first one is obviously better value (as long as you can meet the $3,000 in 3 months spend).

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

This card offer is pretty good. However if you prefer to get free Qantas return flight instead, you should consider the Qantas Ultimate Card with 80000 points offer as well:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....xpress-ultimate-card-69829-3.html#post1346027

Essentially you need to decide between the two:
- Qantas Ultimate: $450 annual fee for 80000 points + free Qantas return flight
- Qantas Premium: $249 annual fee for 82500 points + 2 * Qantas Club Passes.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I just applied for the Qantas Premium card and got approved. I'm taking a risk that I won't get the bonus points but previously I have received the bonus points for the amex velocity card even though I was already holding the Amex platinum reserve card, so fingers crossed! FYI, I only hold the amex velocity card now. Will update in due course...

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I got approved for this card yesterday, it was the quickest card approval I've ever had, probably 2-3 minutes total. I've got a 3 week trip to Europe from the 27th of this month so the $3K spend should be easy to do.

ok happy to report -- got approved quickly - spent 3k in a single transaction when i received the card 3 days ago, and the bonus points posted in the points summary online when i looked today
i already currently hold the plat charge, companion plat reserve, recently had and cancelled the velocity amex and just before then had and cancelled DJ amex.
got points for all

Awesome!

With the points posting so quickly, it looks like I'll channel all spend on to Mrs Excel's card, stock up on wish cards at 2pp$ and then close the account as soon as the points post :)

She wasn't too fussed about apple pay, so cashing out of the Amex system once again won't be too big a loss for her.

Watch for the foreign transaction charge though!

That's fantastic news! This is what I've been waiting to hear. Thanks!

Just so everyone's aware, purchases from the qantas online mall do not appear to count as "selected Qantas products and services" - i.e. I only received 1 point per dollar, it did not trigger the 2,500 bonus points and therefore I do not believe it will result in the QP passes being sent.

Thanks for the update. I presume that qantas hotels will be the same. Perhaps the fees of a classic award would work.

If it's like other QFF cards, a Qantas gift voucher should do the trick.

.

The Devil is deep (section 10 T&C's) in the detail.

10. Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) purchased on the Qantas merchant account i.e. directly from Qantas and Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joining and annual fees. Excludes Jetstar, Qantas Holidays and Qantas branded non-airfare products. Subject to the Qantas American Express Cards Points

Ah yes, had read this but as always was hoping for a grey area

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

If you are stating they told you you that you can have 5 different Amex issued Credit Cards this must be a very recent change. I would note too here that I am referring to personal credit cards.

I have highlighted CREDIT Cards as what I was told:
- last November 2015 (they called me and also followed this up with a letter that my Amex Velocity application was approved BUT would not be issued unless I cancelled one of my two existing Amex Credit Cards.)
- and also several years prior,

was that two Amex issued credit cards was their limit and that if I wanted the new Amex Velocity I had to give up one of my two Amex Credit Cards.

Note as I wrote above CHARGE cards are not with this limit. (ie I used to have the Plat Charge, Reserve CC and Edge CC all at once)
Comp Credit cards are counted within the limit.
Supp Credit Carfds do not count.
Amex issued by banks is not within the limit - I have had upto 6 bank issued Credit Card Amexes in addition to my 2 Amex issued ones. ie 8 in total.

I like that bit about "supplementary cards do not count" as it opens a door for me.

Thanks

Applied for the card tonight and got approved instantly :)

Looking forward to getting the points... another step closer for me and the Mrs to have enough for our RTW trip...

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Just got the card today. I am wondering, Is the qantas points automatically transfer to QFF account ? or we must do it manually from amex login website ?

You would have given them your QFF number. The points automatically sweep into there.

"3.11 Accrued Points will be automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer program account on a monthly basis. The monthly Card Account statement will specify the number of Accrued Points accumulated during that month and the number of Points transferred to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program account. The total Points earned during your monthly Card statement cycle may not all appear on your Qantas Frequent Flyer program statement for the next month as the transfer occurs approximately 6 days prior to the end of your Card statement cycle. Any Points for transactions on your Card Account made after the transfer date will appear on your next month’s Qantas Frequent Flyer Program statement"
