If it is anything like normal AMEX cards, they will tell you that you aren't eligible for the bonus points (but then post them - contradicting themselves). There is a difference between the official line and the reality.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Throughout the application process you are asked to confirm if you have another Amex card. If so, you are asked to enter the number.

Its possible they are using this input to check and/or determine the 80k bonus eligibility. I assume their systems are smarter than that, but some short term memory loss about any pre existing Amex cards might be a good thing here ;)

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Hence why I used past tense in my post.

that offer is still available on the Qantas site till 18th of January
https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/m...latinum?int_cam=au:FF:link:jetstar-40k-August

however as mentioned earlier if one is worried about the amount of credit enquiries then the Amex is the better deal, also if your looking for a card with more ongoing points earn and extras like statement credits, then the Amex is the better deal

Spot on. My understanding is that it is difficult to police and less time consuming/ less expensive to simply pay the points. I've made a number of successful applications and received points every time.

Could also be devastating if you get the card but no points which would put you out of any future amex deals for the next 12+ months...

In my experience it isn't an issue. I've worked my way through all non business Qantas cards and received bonuses. I'm now doing the same with the Virgin branded cards. Just don't hold more than 2 Amex issued cards at any one time. Co-branded cards don't count to the overall tally so your good to good for those applications YMMV. I've obtained more points churning than flying last year. I haven't been knocked back but it's absolutely possible. For me it's a minor risk and I'm well in front.

You cannot these days. They simply will not approve you to have more than 2 Amex issued CREDIT cards. Charges cards are different..

Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 ...

I currently hold QF and VA top tier cards. They need to be different in that respect. My apologies for not being clearer. I agree I doubt you could hold more than any one QF or VA card at any one time.

When you say 'these days' what period are you referring to. No criticism intended. Just trying to recall the approximate date I jagged the Anz Qantas branded Amex and what cards I had at the time is all. Thanks in advance.

That's a disappointment. I hve both the Velocity Platinum AMEX as well as the Priceline Edge AMEX and was looking to apply for the NAB Velocity dual card for the 60k points. Are you saying that I will not be approved? I want to keep both ones I currently have, as they're good earners between them and come to think of it, I have a Westpac altitude business platinum Visa (in my name) which is supposed to be a dual card as well. Apart from the NAB card, I'd like to have all three of the others (the Westpac as it earns 3 altitude points which converts with a transfer bonus to 1.7 or so Velocity points which is a good earn for the goods that only attract 1 for 1 with the other two).

Any comments?

Co-branded cards are not issued by Amex.

So by co-branded, do you mean co-brand with a bank (or other financial institution) like my Westpac and NAB would be co-branded I'm guessing, what about the Velocity Platinum? I gather the Priceline Platinum Edge is a genuine AMEX as there's no reference to Priceline at all on it.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

If you submit your card application to American Express, it's an Amex issued card. if you submit your card application to Priceline, or Velocity, or DJs, or NAB, or ANZ, or anyone who's not Amex, it's not issued by Amex.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Djs and Priceline are Amex issued cards. Banks are not.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Not bad agreed not as cheap as some others and will be applying for this one.

Yes Amex are firm on the 2 now and have been for some years. They also now include in "two" this any "complimentary" issued credit cards (not count supps which do not count).

Bank issued Amex do not count in the two, only Amex issued credit cards.

I tested this again not long ago to try and get the 100K bonus on the Amex Velocity Card. They contacted me back to say that they would approve the application, but would not issue the card unless I cancelled either of my Amex Credit Cards, one of which was a complimentary card.

Hi,
I am new to Qantas reward program and need suggestion on which card should I go with Amex 80k reward points or anz platinum with 50k points , as I understood from browsing I need Qantas membership as well. Hence anz offer looks better to me as there is no 1st year fee with complimentary Qantas membership. What you guys recommend as I have no experience with these cards.

How about the ANZ 75k one with no annual fee if you meet the requirements? ANZ Frequent Flyer Black

Of course you cancel before the end of the first year so don't pay the annual fee ongoing.

Most of us have already taken up an ANZ offer and so are ineligible for this. In general the advice will be "get the most you can for the smallest outlay".

Qantas were very recently (and maybe still are) offering free membership regardless. I'll leave the "which one" question to others who know more about the two you ask about.

Ya i saw that offer but the thing is clocking 7500 is 90 days seems steep to me and that was the reason i was looking into the platinum one with 5k spend,

also one more Question i don't see the number of interest free days , are there no interest free days in these sort of cards??
