Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Ya i saw that offer but the thing is clocking 7500 is 90 days seems steep to me and that was the reason i was looking into the platinum one with 5k spend,

also one more Question i don't see the number of interest free days , are there no interest free days in these sort of cards??

Calculate your weekly outgoings for all expenses (council rates, petrol, groceries, bills, etc) and you may find you can achieve the 7.5. I agree it would be pushing it for me too - depending on the time of the year though. If it came around insurance renewal / council rates season it might be achievable for me.

Generally there are either up to 45 or 55 interest free days. Amex issued ones tend to have up to 45. This is always listed in the T&Cs of what you're applying for - be sure to read them carefully and if you don't understand anything, call the bank for clarification or don't apply. Credit card bonuses are a game that can be played but they will constantly shift the goal posts to catch you out.

(Up to) 44 days interest free for the Qantas AMEX Ultimate Card:

https://secure.cmax.americanexpress...AU_en/shared/pdfs/KFS/AUtbpremium_default.pdf

(Up to) 55 days for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black:

https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/black/#rates

I currently hold another AMEX-issued card so I've got my wife to apply for the Qantas Ultimate under the current offer. I will then probably apply in my own name for the ANZ Black ahead of some large expenditures in a few months to make light work of the $7,500 spend - just hoping the offer doesn't get withdrawn in the meantime :)

never had a card with Amex. I did the CBA and Westpac cards in 2015 for bonus QFF along with new car loan and home loan. Not sure what my credit rating is, I guess ok seeing they issued the card. Will do a Veda check at some stage in next few months just to be sure in case some good card deals com eup.

Mrs 2tall4Y also applied on Sunday and the cards arrived today after no contact from Amex - hopefully your card(s) arrives soon.

You cannot these days. They simply will not approve you to have more than 2 Amex issued CREDIT cards. Charges cards are different..

Speaking with an AMEX staff you can have up to 5 AMEX cards in Australia. They will decline you on your 6th AMEX application, as they do not see why a customer needs 6 different AMEX cards.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Djs and Priceline are Amex issued cards. Banks are not.

I thought the Djs card is special "store card" partnership with AMEX. So it's not really a AMEX card?

Can anyone who already has an amex card confirm whether they were able to obtain the bonus points? I was approved for the card but I already have a David Jones AMEX storecard, which I haven't used for a couple of years, and I'm a little worried that because of this I won't get the bonus points. Hoping I won't have to cancel the card as soon as I receive it because of this.

If you are stating they told you you that you can have 5 different Amex issued Credit Cards this must be a very recent change. I would note too here that I am referring to personal credit cards.

I have highlighted CREDIT Cards as what I was told:
- last November 2015 (they called me and also followed this up with a letter that my Amex Velocity application was approved BUT would not be issued unless I cancelled one of my two existing Amex Credit Cards.)
- and also several years prior,

was that two Amex issued credit cards was their limit and that if I wanted the new Amex Velocity I had to give up one of my two Amex Credit Cards.

Note as I wrote above CHARGE cards are not with this limit. (ie I used to have the Plat Charge, Reserve CC and Edge CC all at once)
Comp Credit cards are counted within the limit.
Supp Credit Carfds do not count.
Amex issued by banks is not within the limit - I have had upto 6 bank issued Credit Card Amexes in addition to my 2 Amex issued ones. ie 8 in total.

The DJ Storecard is not on the list. Could this possibly mean that it's not AMEX 'issued' for the purpose of obtaining the bonus points?

If it's advertised on the Amex website, I'd consider it an amex australia issued card. I wouldn't risk it personally, but as you already have applied and the credit check has already happened, I hope for the best...

I have a feeling it will depends whether you selected 'yes' or 'no' to the question in the application form: do you currently have an american express issued credit card?

I selected 'no' as I forgot about the DJ Storecard as I haven't touched it for over 2 years. And no, I don't have an AMEX credit card, only the DJ Storecard, but that is technically a credit card too so who knows.. time will tell. By the way, the DJ Storecard is not on the list of AMEX issued cards, so hoping for the best.

I currently have a DJs Amex Card & recently signed up for Qantas Amex Premium Card. Looks like I might qualify for those 80K points upon spending $3k. As on my first spend have gotten 5k bonus points for activation.

Forgive me, I mixed up store card with the DJs Amex Credit Cards. I'd be willing to think that your answer to that question is the extent of their due diligence.

Honesty is the best policy, after all...

What is this activation bonus? I cannot seem to find any info on it.. only the 2,500 bonus points for Qantas products.

Mrs 2tall4Y also received the 5,000 points 'Card Activation Bonus' upon her first spend, and I'm also confused as the terms & conditions only refer to 80,000 points after $3,000 spend within three months of activation.
