Feb this year

Assuming your last card was not a corporate-issued one (a past company's AMEX Gold did not count against my own application of the QF Ultimate), I would be waiting until the end of the 12 or 18 month period respectively.

As you've said - not worth the risk.

Summer is coming, and Christmas and New Year is around the corner! Have you think about your Christmas and New Year's holiday plans yet?

American Express is a company that keeps giving!

If you collect Qantas points and prefer to fly Qantas, these are the cards for you. The best deal for Qantas is the Qantas Ultimate Amex with 80000 points with free Qantas domestic flights thrown in. This is be best bang for the buck card if you are looking for Qantas points.

Otherwise you can look at the Qantas Premium Amex for bonus 50000 points with 2 free Qantas Club lounge passes every year.

Or if you don't want to pay annual fee, the Qantas Discovery Amex is for you, with bonus 15000 points with no annual fee.

Please see the table below with application links for each of the cards:

Please feel free to use my referral link for this card. As a referral bonus, you get an extra 10k bonus points, which brings it to a grand total of 110,000 QF points after spending $1.5k within 3 months. There is also a further 2,500 QF points after your first spend with Qantas.

If you use it, I get a further 20,000 QF points.

Many thanks to any who decide to take up this offer!

Glad to share that our offer has also been updated to 110,000 points if you apply by Jan 31, 2017, and have not held an amex in the last 18 months (may exclude corporate and supplementary cards). Min spend of $1,500 for the large chunk of bonus points; and bonus 2,500 on your first QF spend which also triggers your free flight.

The free return QF flight on this card is excellent value, feel free to PM me with any questions about maximising this ;)

While the annual fee of $450 is significant, you could consider it paying 0.4 cents per point, which you could then redeem at 2-4 cents per point (or more) plus have a free flight!

Another way to look at it is almost half way to a 280k round the world business class ticket.

Would greatly appreciate anyone who contributes a few points to our next holiday by using Mrs Excel's referral link. Then, click on the grey card in the top right corner.

I have applied and been conditionally approved using one of the referral links on this thread. Not going to say who's it was so someone will have an unexpected surprise in a month or so. :D

Looking forward to the 110k pts! :D

There has been a fresh thread opened for the new offer - it is a bit confusing having 2

Hello all you Points Hounds and Altitude Jockeys,

Firstly, Merry Christmas to you all. This community remains one of the best forums I am a member of, and the amount of information I've been able to glean from it, and the friends made on here is First Class.

Secondly, considering the point hauls on offer currently, this Amex Qantas Ultimate Rewards card is one of the most attractive out there. I have it on some authority that these 'mega-point' deals will be phased out within the next year. Regulatory reasons. So what does that mean to us all? Let's make hay whilst the sun shines! The good news is there will always exist a will to maximise points or status, and if there is a will, there is a way - and the way is often discovered on this forum. So check back often!

Thinking laterally. Qantas is currently running quite an attractive (not the best I've ever seen, but a decent) 5 points per dollar on vouchers. How can you maximise this deal? Here's a good start.....

Get this card: http://amex.com.au/refer/shelblcLaG?CPID=100195694

Read the T&Cs and scroll down to the BLUE coloured APPLY NOW box at the bottom of the page.
then use this card to purchase the QF Vouchers. for a $1K voucher you should nab yourself 8000 points. Not a bad haul at 12.5c per point, then don't forget you're going to earn points for the travel flown on the voucher too. Triple dip!

Couple this with a few Qantas epiQure purchases and a hotel over the break and you're well and truly sailing.... to a premium cabin flight next trip.

Using my referral link: http://amex.com.au/refer/shelblcLaG?CPID=100195694

Don't snooze... or you'll lose. You need to apply BEFORE January 30, 2017
(still got plenty of time folks) you get 112,500 sign up bonus points and I get a 20k point bump too (full disclosure). A pretty attractive haul, considering you're now close to a RTW business class flight for 280k points and with any luck, I'll raise a glass of champagne and toast you as my neighbour at the front of the plane.
It will cost you $450 p.a. for this card, but this offset by 1x FREE domestic return flight each year, 2x AMEX Lounge passes and the insurances for TRAVEL; both International & Domestic and purchase-protection make it well-worth the annual outlay).

Always appreciate you ladies and gentlemen. Let's keep smiling and learning together. Onwards & Upwards!
Happy Holidays!
