Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Yeh I want to book on QF81 (and happy to take QF51 and QF35 as well!!). Let me book Qantas :(

Yes, people are valued, but not equally (though it seems perhaps mostly those who haven't yet retained status and have a membership year expiring January to June so may get the new status extension are those getting 15k points). And QF will show its appreciation by giving you points to request an upgrade and then perhaps tell you sorry we couldn't upgrade you on this occasion to start your trip off and show how much they value you as a customer...
Say what? This was my email
In addition, as a valued Platinum member, we’d like to offer you 15,000 Qantas Points to help inspire your future travel plans or request an upgrade on your next flight. We would also like to offer you $50 off a return Qantas flight. To accept these offers by 30 September, and for more information, click here.

Only 15,000?
My email also gives me 15,000 points, yet I requalified to Feb 2023 on my own purchased flights, and with Qatar flights in October will requalify to Feb 2024. Currently only 197 SC short) I really would be interested in knowing how QF worked out who received what? Just for interest. I guess the only “gift” I actually need is SC rollover for next year. With extortionate J prices, I’ll by flying whY in future.

Edit. I went back to read post #310 by @Princess Fiona. Seems you are right. I miss out on an extra 15,000 points by 197SC, which I will very soon have. I really don’t care as I have a vast amount of points, but I could could feel it is a slap in the face again.

All this PR spin by AJ leaves me cold. For me to really feel ”appreciated“, I need to have all my Y to J requests appproved, and also be able to book a simple classic reward J international return flight.

I suspect they have used their commercial metrics in the background seeing who got what in our office. There are a few that sit behind FF rankings. I is $$ and profile related.

I doubt it. I know someone who hasn't purchased a ticket with Qantas for years, has never spent much with Qantas and got 30k. They only have Platinum from a P1 partner and have had rolling status extensions for years.

You might be a mistake then. Keep quiet 😂

I'm gold (about to be platinum next month) and received 2 x Qantas Business Lounge Invitations and the $50. So a really coughpy offer for me as my next flight is in J and then after that I'll be platinum with access to the J lounge anyway.

So they are giving away another free status extension. My status run to NZ will now be for nothing. At least I only purchased one trip. I hope those who purchased multiple trips are feeling ok.
I'm felt a little annoyed, until I realised it meant 3 OS trips after 2.5 years of grounding.

Did someone in Mascot not consider this would happen? Seems they were going for the headline of, "A record number of reward bookings were made yesterday" and instead are getting, "No one can access the website we've been lecturing them to use for months with condescending YouTube video tutorials and our call centre wait times have blown out to new records."

Irony is that if this is really targeted at leisure travellers, a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have thought about Qantas today are now going to be very irritated by Qantas today.

You can't make this stuff up.

I'm sorry but at this point all I can do is laugh. This is just absolutely hilarious.

Worse for me - I'm already Platinum (as of last Friday) and yet still got Business Lounge passes since it seems like the systems aren't in sync o_O

Have you tried logging in to the website to make a complaint or calling in? 😉 We've been assured the website is MatchFit™️ and the call centre problem resolved.

Meanwhile, QF 11 is headed off to Los Angeles this morn---pardon me, afternoon, at 13:00, just three hours late.

Meanwhile yesterday's QF 1 service yesterday from SYD-SIN departed... this morning, just 21 hours late. 🥰

But thanks for the coupon.

clearly they've been holding back releasing premium award seats as they usually do for this announcement to release them all in one go
I wouldn't say "clearly", although yeah I do wonder if this is true... It would explain the weird behaviour such as releasing Business Reward seats on international flights with only "Business Flex" tickets remaining.

I'm thinking that means it's a manual allocation of rewards seats beyond what's there by default. Otherwise, you wouldn't want to be discounting the cash price just to create rewards inventory

Plenty of availability from SYD-LHR Nov.

Nice. What about in a couple of weeks in early September? I have just been to LHR, but I have a few friends who'd probably cancel their economy booking if they could get business/first classic rewards to London even if meant adding a domestic flight to Sydney to the journey to London.
