Just received the email from QF. As a WP they're buying my love with 30k FF points.

Edit: Interesting to see they're offering different amounts to different people on the same level. More goodwill for those who feel screwed :(
Or if you're not based in Australia, it seems you get 0 points?

At least I've not yet received an email or offer in my app as a UK-based WP.

Perhaps it's because I've requalified already without the status support?

A more effective way for this apology to be enacted would have been to simply (for the membership YEs in question), roll forward the amount of SCs earned. That way the actual flyers who have continued to fly / spend with QF would get a real benefit, those that had done some flying would get a boost to the start of their next membership year and those that have done no flying get nothing as they’re also the ones that haven’t had to endure QF effups

Finally able to log in. Well much to my surprise there were many more QF metal award seats between MEL and LAX and return for the dates I was interested in compared to pre Alan Joyce apology. Managed to change my booking of family of four from economy to premium economy despite being bronze status. I could have also booked business class if I was prepared to split the family in two and we fly on back to back days. If this is the ongoing future of Qantas award seat availability then this is excellent.

Newly minted AU-based WP and haven't seen any points. I received my email with a Gold heading, lounge invitations and no offer of points. At the top of the email it says:

Qantas Points and Status Credits shown are as at 19-Aug-2022

I moved up from SG to WP on... 19 Aug! Currently have about 1600 SCs under my belt with a Jan 31 anniversary, so I guess there's another data point for you.

I wonder if I'll get a 250 or a 500 SC rollover come Jan 31... 🤔

Another sweet-spot seems to be SYD - CGK in J. Wide open in June & July 2022. Just snapped up a J classic reward for 57,000 for the entire family in July. If we are lucky, we may get seats back as well in August 2023. Retails for about AUD 2,2000 per J seat that time.

It certainly would be great, but I don't think this is the ongoing future of Qantas award availability. It's a promotional stunt and the seats will be gone by next week. :(

i can't believe it, I may have benefitted from this unless it was a fluke cancellation by someone else.
Booked SYD-PER-SIN dec 30 earlier in the year in Y with a 2 hr layover which got reduced to 1 hr. Been freaking out since, worrying if the flight in was late. After reading the AFF newsletter today decided to see if anything better was available and some how secured SYD-BNE-SIN on QF Dec 25 Christmas day in J.

Was hoping to extend the holiday as my wife hasn't seen her family in 3 years, although will need to throw away our cheap flights to SIN-BKK in Jan and get some earlier flights.

flights ticketed and paid, now to cancel my classic reward in Y.

just in the last hour many of the MEL - LAX dates that I was looking at and were available have now gone

I got 15,000 points, the $50 and status extension - the last will be terrific, so glad now I didn’t book DSC runs but feel for those who did. Year ends in first half of year.

+1 WP got 30,000 points and $50. Year ends in second half of year.

Before this offer, I couldn’t find any J/F awards to LHR - hope there are still some when I get my head around planning!

Little strange you have to accept even the points offer - weird time to test customer engagement if that’s what that is, dunno about creating a unique code when you have to accept just the points too.
