Qantas app refresh (new look)

I have the impression that this doesn't *appear* to have much new functionality but seems more a cosmetic rejig of the UI to me. We know the bag tracking is promised at the end of the year, but is there any actual new functionality to this major release?
It rolled out to me last weekend while in the USA.

Aside from cosmetic changes, it appears to try to do more in the app rather than port to QF Manage My Booking.

In fact it is a pain, as it is now a three step process to check seating as they removed that basic shortcut from the booking summary display on the previous app versions.

Also, when first updated, the app would not work. I had to clear ALL data (not just cache) and login again.

It would not show any points activity after the update until something posted under 'recent activity', only then the "VIEW ACTIVITY" became available.

could you confirm if Android phone + make & model please

Just looking at a booking with an upgrade correctly shown as requested. Fine. But no button to cancel request (there is a U seat available and cancel and re-request has someties worked for me. Looks like a leap backwards to me.

Cheers skip

Downloaded the new app last week. On Thursday my flight home got delayed. Got a text to notify me a delay has occured and to check the app for options. App decided to take the day off and refused to update. In the end I googled the flight number, saw we were delayed by 90 minand went the lounge to wait out the delay. New app is a major fail for me.

I don't like the new Trips page as it is difficult to read and lacks the useful information that had been displayed before. The text for each of the trips are about 1/3 the size they once were and I have to strain to read it, and the trips used to say what time your trip started; now it just says to/from city, duration and PNR. Oh and an image taking up 1/3 of the item but as they don't have images for many of the cities I am flying to it is just the same picture of clouds ...

Probably looks OK on tablet or larger/ plus size phone but that form factor likely represents a tiny fraction of installed user base. 😔

When booking/searching for Hotels on the App, destination gets initial jitters, vanishes then comes back.
No big deal but is it only me and my Samsung?

I think the whole purpose of the new app version is increased marketing (selling of all Qantas services) given the "Book and explore" section on the front screen instead of first showing upcomging flight details like in the old app version.
It is a terrible app and I will use it as little as possble.

Hmm I'm no longer being targeted with a "Book an Uber" link..which was a good way of earning a few extra points!

Edit: Update, found it, you have to click on "Book" and there's icons for Insurance, FX, and also Uber..

You don't need to book an Uber through the Qantas app. Just getting an Uber to the airport will trigger the points. The app notification was just there as a reminder.

Hmm this makes sense as the QF profile is on the Uber account. But I'm certain I've had instances where I've booked directly in the Uber app and no QF points were credited. Whereas it has always worked when I've booked through the QF App link first. I thought maybe it was like their online shopping where tracking cookies were used.

New app update rolling out on iOS - v4.8.1. Haven't seen an update on Android just yet.
Basically brings the main My QFF section more in line with the updated My Account landing page on the web.
Welcome to the new My QFF experience. We've been listening to your feedback and made several improvements:
  • A new look and feel for easier navigation and management.
  • New activity snapshot displaying your points balance and status credits.
  • New quick links for easy access to check your travel credits, use our calculators and find ways to earn and use points.
  • Inclusion of your Membership year to monitor expiry.
  • Updated trackers for Status Credits and Points Club to help you reach your next tier.
  • An overview of the number of Complimentary Lounge Invitations you have available for linking or transfer.

Is that why I can't get the Ap to work correctly at this time? Can't let me look at seats or change seats. , 😞
