Qantas Brisbane International Business Lounge

Thanks for the photos (I can even see myself and Mrs Aus ATC in one of them)! It was a well organised morning by Qantas. Thanks Red Roo - I was particularly pleased to see you took on board my suggestion (which got me the invite) of places for single business travellers to sit, with power and USB charging, a place to put the glass of bubbles - without taking up space otherwise used for 2 people.

I thought the lounge itself was great. A range of places to sit, depending on ones mood and travelling companions. If the food offered today was typical of what will be offered when the lounge is open (on Thursday), no-one will be disappointed. I had not experienced the new lounges at HKG or SIN, but feel this is a happy medium between a QP and FLounge - for locations without an FLounge.

The Qantas staff I spoke with were clearly very proud of the new offering.

Looking forward to trying it out for real in early November.

Superfast review: very impressive. I'm sure some will wish there were seperate F & J spaces but this is so far ahead of ye old cupboard that I think it'd be churlish to want for more.

The upstairs loft area works really well – apparently it was just unused airport space before – and this is where QF gains an extra 30% in floorspace. I can see this becoming a popular nook, just be ready to head downstairs to the bar for your real (barista) coffee.

'Service differentiation' for CL (and Platinum One?) includes real champagne [specifically, Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut NV].

Stack this up against the SYD and MEL international J lounges and this could arguably be Qantas' best home-grown international business lounge... a point which I'm sure many here can debate back and forth! :)

Thats a super idea. After all, if singles are the only ones who can get a gate upgrade, there must be lots of singles traveling.

Was there a pic of the singles space ?

Does look good. Thanks for all the pics.

Not so much a singles space, but the seats overlooking the concourse are what I was thinking about. Even though they are paired next to a common table/power unit, they are much more conducive to sharing with another traveller, than the typical couples seats.

If you look at the one I posted under power, that is the single seat. Both sides have power but only one side has the usb slots. Will try to post some more photos later on with a bit more description.

I'll post a few photos of the singles seats tonight when I get home.

Great upgrade for BNE, lots of practical spaces. Doesnt appear to have more seats than last time, but is definitely a bigger space. Lots of different areas to suit different types of needs.

I bet the "cabana" bench seat against the window overlooking the terminal concourse will be popular, the first to go every morning.

Thanks to QF and RedRoo for putting this event on.

Excellent!! Please post lots of pics for those of us who aren't :)

For what it's worth, I took a slew of photos on a camera I was presented with upon arriving, but ALH took it back off me before leaving so I don't have access to any of the photos! :p

Yes, I did have an iPhone, but when you have a camera around your neck, a bloody mary in one hand and a mimosa in the other, it gets challenging to use yet another device!

I know, it's a hard life! :p

My heart bleeds for you

So am in this lounge right now, considering it only opened to pax yesterday it does make me wonder if I'm the first AFFer to actually visit while traveling.

Have to say am most impressed, the staff are extremely friendly (and as one told me, just a little bit excited about being in the new lounge)

My one gripe is that the power points up on the mezzanine level are a little difficult to get to, apart from that IMHO QF is onto another winner with this lounge.

I shall make her send the photos to you

It does look impressive. I'll be sure to starch my best wife beater and throw on the good thongs so I don't feel out of place.

I just left the lounge. Interestingly there is only Pinot Chardonnay on offer on level 5. The new seating layout is different. I prefer the seats from the old lounge tbh. It felt like I was sitting in the queen st mall.

It is certainly much more open than the old lounge design.
