Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF540 SYD-BNE 19/1 17:00 departure
(Direct CNS-BNE flight canned so was re routed via SYD!)

Choices of cheese box, french onion soup, chicken pie.

Chicken pie was ok, but lacked taste.

No pre meal drink from the bar, but that may be because of the short duration.

SYD-ADL 19:55 dinner flight.

No pre-dinner drinks. Service good. Choices beef bourguignon or the famous 99c chopped salad.

Tasty, but having had this half a dozen times since September (though not flying QF at all in Nov/Dec from memory) it is really time they changed menus. Not a great summer dish.

ADL-BNE 1pm "Afternoon refreshment". Pre-refreshment drink offered. Service excellent. Choices were toasted turkey and brie sandwich; a spicy pumpkin soup, or Thai beef salad.

I had the salad and a cup of soup. Salad was pretty good, and surprisingly substantial. Soup very tasty. Again found it an odd menu for a flight leaving at 1pm on a 40 degree day...

I had this on a trans-Tasman flight a few months ago. (Was chastised by the FA for not eating all my carrots, as an aside). Same dishes now for far too long, I reckon.

QF655 CNS-BNE 25/1 17:05 departure

Choices:
Chicken salad
Roast pork with corn

No pre-dinner drink from bar. Perhaps this is new for 2018, as wasn't offered pre dinner drinks from bar on my last flight on this same service.

Dinner served similar to virgin - cart not pushed around, rather CSM asked each passenger what they would like

Roast pork tender enough for a flight. Corn reminded me of the tin creamed corn.

I'm curious about the Olive Oil Pistachio Cake. What is olive oil doing in a cake?

It's basically a cup cake with denser texture. Wouldn't know by tasting it that it was based on olive oil. Does capture one's attention!

QF501 BNE-SYD 5am departure 29/1/18

Offered cranberry juice or water pre departure
Choices - potato frittata or Bircher museli.IMG_20180129_053120.jpg

On ADL SYD flight yesterday had the most bizarre toasted ham and cheese sandwich with two eggs on top. Just looked weird and was really rich without a lot of flavour. Had an interesting conversation with the QF pilot next to me about Neil Perry (neither of us a fan) Sadly no photo

Looks like white bread rather than usual sourdough or the occasional rye? interesting.

Bloody S+S and 2017 now. *sigh*

QF540 SYD-BNE 17:00 departure 2/2

Water or water pre take off
No drink from bar
Refreshments offered:

Arancini balls
Cheese box
Tomato or basil soup

(Bread was sourdough. Wine was S&S savignon blanc 2017)

Arancini balls very tasty. Better than the arancini balls with virgin.

I enjoyed it. It was on a 15:30 BNE-CBR flight. The lovely CSM Rebecca called it lunch, but clearly an afternoon refreshment. Soup and cheese box the alternatives, as per your post.

I have not had this before so maybe menus are refreshing finally??
