Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Travelled in J today with a friend who has never flown J before his comment was "it's the same slop but on a nicer plate!"

I'm curious to see what dinner is on board tonight.

Some photos from PER - ADL tonights dinner service... I dont do tuna so opted to start with the cheese plate followed by the pie...

That looks like it would have been good.

I don't understand why on a SYD-DRW evening flight a few days ago with the meal described as "Dinner" we were only offered a main but on a much shorter flight QF offer a starter and a main? Is PER-ADL an A330 now?

PER - ADL is still a 737...

A320 and Qantas business class . Might be time for me to go to bed, I should sleep well, I have already had the nightmare

Perth is considered special when it comes to catering

ADL/MEL/SYD/BNE-PER vv flights all come under the 'east coast-west coast' service type banner..ie:individual courses/no 'trays' used (similar to QF international J/C service style)...this service type is tailored towards the 'business' market..the SYD-DRW route is tailored more towards the 'leisure' market.

QF east-west coast service is offered, regardless of aircraft type flying those above mentioned routes..ie (A330/737/767)....unlike VA, who only offers their 'coast to coast' service type on the BNE/SYD/MEL-PERvv on their A330s (not their 737s, even if they fly those same routes)

It seems from what people have posted with respect to ADL/PER versus others/PER that there is only one small plate on ADL services compared to others which have two. There may or may not be an extra main plate as well. I'm assuming CBR/PER (do they still operate this?) also falls under this banner.

This was not my impression. I have no experience, but despite the galley capacity being smaller, I thought VA offer the same service coast-to-coast irrespective of the aircraft (both in J and Y). Can someone else confirm or deny?

So basically VA on a 737 coast-to-coast is the standard J, single tray service?

I mention the service 'type'...not the amount of options.. the options aren't as many on the ADL-PERvv..simply because of the very reduced flight time compared to the other ports...and as you can see on the printed menu...still has 4 main options...that's pretty good on a 2.5-3hr domestic flight (and compared to VA!)
I'm not 100% sure on the CBR-PERvv service type...so I can't comment..(my sources don't know ;))... but I THINK it may be the same as the other ports

To my knowledge.. J/C VA 737 'coast to coast' is an 'abridged' version... compared to their a330 services...I am very happy to be corrected if this is untrue

and I'm not sure what happens in Y/C

I do think VA have modified/are modifying their 737 galleys to accommodate the amount of Y/C meals required to be heated for 'full service'/coast to coast flights..but not all aircraft have been modified....on a side note...this is really why they haven't introduced 'full service' hot meals/dinners on the majority of their routes..ie the 'golden triangle' in Y/C

Why have the wheels fallen off?

In each case the FAs did their best to find something for me to eat - soup (and I have been able to top up my wine cellar).

I will be escalating this with QF and Red Roo. This is a spectacular service failure.

Very disappointing! Especially after you just sent QF a complaint regarding this issue.
Tell me about it! I am extremely annoyed to put it politely. I have PMed Red Roo, and emailed Customer Care.

I can not speak highly enough of the cabin crew, as they tried their best to recover, but again they did not have much to work with. One CSM even showed me the manifest with AVML against my name - whilst shaking their head in disbelief.

I will post the results of my emails.

Are you sure your special meal was VGML, not the diet / low fat option?
My meal is AVML which is the asian vegetarian meal. It is the only meal that is available that definitely has no nuts in it. I guess they succeeded. Certainly no risk of a reaction today.

Not to doubt the definition of AVML (and this is O/T), but I'd be surprised that an Asian meal is guaranteed to have no nuts in it, considering there are a fair few dishes in Asia (even vegetarian) that can be finished with nuts. (Keep in mind that Asians usually have very few food allergies, except possibly lactose, but almost certainly not nuts). Hope there are no vegetarian peanut curries with rice on the menu any time soon.

Anyway, all jokes aside, this is certainly not good.

As I said before, from my experience, when QF cough*s up their preferred solution is to shower you with points and close the case.
While I do appreciate the points as a suitable compensation, I would also like to see the problems reported by pax treated more seriously.
I hope this time your issue will be solved.
